Has road tax gone up on older cars?

Received my Tax Reminder in the post for my car.

I have paid £145 on my 2015 reg car for the past 2 years, reminder also states £145.

Yet when I go to pay online it says £150?

Are you paying with a CC perhaps?

I clicked pay by card and it is £150, pay by direct debit and it is over £157.

I'm sure it should still be £145 but it only lets me pay £150.

There was a very similar thread about this earlier today.

Seems the reminders are printed some weeks in advance and so don't account for the tax increase announced in the budget and which came into effect on 1st April.

Cheers for the link, that explains why I'll now be a fiver poorer every year.

That 1.4p a day will be a real killer I imagine.

Hush your mouth! There are people elsewhere on this forum who are willing to jump through all kinds of hoops for a fiver a year. :money:

Shows how the budget really doesn't register with people anymore.

I remember years ago the increase in cost of petrol, booze, fags and car tax was talked about after the speech. Now its a none event.

On my old car (2004), the tax always went up £5 year then froze for 2 years, not a bad deal really.

Not every year - it'll probably go up a bit more next year, just like it's done most years in the past...

On my older car (1955) tax remained at the same rate.
