n power warm home discount

hi there

I applied over the phone for the NPower Warm Home discount in September 2016, i have been with NPower for over 3 years and have received the payment for the last 2 years, i have called several times to ask when it will be paid and keep getting fobbed off , 2 weeks ago i was told it would be last week, last week i was told the end of May. I have previously been paid in Feb or March? Has anyone else received theirs or can point me in the right direction of who to call?

thanks in advance

Not sure whether you are on prepayment meter or not.

    On their website it says

How will I receive my discount?

    Prepayment Customers:

As a pre-payment customer you will receive your £140 rebate as a Post Office voucher, which you can then take to any branch of the Post Office and use to top-up your pre-payment key

    Credit Customers:

You will receive your £140 discount as a line on your bill. If you receive a bill close to the payment period during March or April which doesn't show your rebate you will receive it on your following bill.

So if you are a credit customer it could be April or May.

Think you might just have to be patient :(

    Hi mummy 2 be

    Thanks for your post.

When you receive your voucher will depend on how you pay for your energy and when you applied.

For those paying by quarterly receipt of bill or Direct Debit, the credit will be applied to the account and show on your quarterly bill - most customers have now received this, unless they've applied towards the end of the scheme in which case it should appear on their next bill.

For those on prepayment meters, we're currently sending these out to our customers now, through the post. We expect all of our customers to have received their Warm Home Discount by 1 June 2017.

If you have any concerns, just give us a call and we'll be happy to investigate further.

    Kind regards

    Jess :)

I'm having same problem with Scottish Power, have always received it in March in previous years, still not received it this year.

Have been told that another 5 years of WHD was agreed last July by government, that is reason it is late and people should receive it by end of May, which is a bit silly as it was meant to help with winter energy bills. I spoke to someone in social responsibility team at Scottish Power who deal with WHD.

I'd try to track down who exactly deals with WHD payments at NPower.

Well in a way it does help with winter bills if you have dry meters and where yours bill get generated every 3 month.

I guess with prepayment it doesn't help in the way it should, Maybe the government need to re-focus priority and give to prepayment meters first.

Does the Government pay it directly or do the Energy companies pay it out and get reimbursement?

The energy companies pay it out and every one has different criterias If you mean the two different groups the core group is payed automatically by the Government. The other one as i said is decided by the companies.

Other people will say we all pay it because it may result in higher energy cost's to us all because of this.

So is it the Energy companies that are dragging their heels not paying out to people on prepayment meters?

    What's dry meters ?

You really want WHD payment earlier when higher winter energy bills come in, not in May.

Also the way it is arranged isn't best, with WHD payment on electricity account when people may heat with gas and have different supplier for gas.
