YouView - Digibox Update Legal?

Recently, the company behind the YouView Digital TV Boxes have rolled out an update that has significantly changed the layout and function of the user menus.
I bought one a couple of years back, because I had been demonstrated the Menu System and how logical it all was, however, this new update which arrived uninvited has switched to a "programme thumbnail" view of my recordings, which appears to scatter them semi-randomly across my screen, with total disregard for a "sort" function.
I don't understand how a company can dramatically change a product that I have purchased and used for 2 years, without giving the option of rolling back, or even an option in the settings to change the view back to a list.. They can't even fit the title of the programme onto each thumbnail.
I can only liken this to the purchase of a kettle, only to find that 2 years later the switch magically changes position by itself. Surely this isn't allowed under some consumer protection? Even Microsoft give you the option to roll back updates.

I Don't Own one and Agree with the Updates.I mean that the firmware that the boxes run on is not owned by you it's a licence , the box is what you pay for
All freeview boxes I've had are updated on a regular basis , as have sky boxesEx forum ambassador

Btw my son didnt like window 8 changing to window 10 automatically on a update..

Lots of complaints about the new update on net. When mine updated on Saturday 1st April my remote didnt work at all despite new batteries and reset the remote and later the box via Plusnet support. After a few days remote started to work abet very sluggish.
I got new remote on Tuesday 11th (took around 10 days to come) and now works fine. However the recordings shown as tiles are truly in my opinion a backward step as much less is shown on the box compared to a list.
The rest I think is okay although I dont use the box that much tend to just record via youview app sent to box and watch at a later date.
It would have been nice assuming they could have done this to either show recordings as list or tiles (thumbnails)0 -
Dont think i should update mine then ..just looked and said updated 6 june 2014..
Not going to start messing works okay.“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I think that you'll find that as soon as you connect it to the internet, it updates automatically. I know that my box did.
By the way, I hate the new thumbnails as well. I can't see why they can't offer an option of the original listing or thumbnails.0 -
Mines still like this , is everyone else is..?
