Ah if it helps i have exact same thing, we took the downstairs clinker wall out, with BC notified. We had a SE for other stuff and asked advice while he was here. The only possible problem that could have happened was the beam holding upstairs up, may possibly twist.
In two years that hasn't happened.
We now have a huge kitchen diner, instead of tiny kitchen and huge dining room.63 mortgage payments to go.
