Old Style Daily Tuesday 11th April

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Couldn't sleep again but this time it's because I am excited as it's my birthday. Hubby has given me an enormous card and money to go shopping with. I also have cards and presents from the girls to open and my sister is popping around at 10am to give me cards from my wider family. It is nice to belong to a big family at times :D. My eldest daughter is taking me out to lunch and my friend is coming to see me afterwards. I feel very spoilt and it's lovely :smileyhea.

DD14 is going to be starting her meds today so hopefully she will get some sleep tonight as they are quite sedating although she will be on quite a low dose to start with. She is very fed up at the moment with it all and I don't blame her. I think the tiredness isn't helping her though so once that is resolved she should start to feel a lot better.

Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning everyone

dumpling - thanks for starting us off, and happy birthday, enjoy your day x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, light cloud, drier but cooler.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg, ice cream for dessert. I haven't planned very well and am just thinking about what we will be eating for dinner tonight, I'm thinking we'll have cheese and potato pie, beans and breaded chicken portions - not ideal but I didn't get any meat out of the freezer. I must remember to get meat out for tomorrow night later.

Yesterday work wasn't as busy as it has been but steady, the telephones on the other hand were a different matter, complete nightmare with calls stacked all day, and it was just relentless, customers not happy before they'd spoken to anyone due to how long they had been waiting. We'll see how today goes, The day passed very quickly though.

I'm looking forward to the end of today as I then only have tomorrow to work, I am working Saturday but don't mind that, then extra day as off Monday due to Bank hol, then working Tues and Weds, off Thurs to get ready for hols and away early Friday morning, can't wait!

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING. Have a lovely happy Birthday.

Feeling a bit down so won't linger on here for long. Don't want to drag everybody else down with me. Mr TA has his brain scan this afternoon and this constant round of scans, appointments, results and endless worrying gets to me at times. I do try to keep strong but it's not easy.

Have a lovely day and (HUGS) where wanted/needed. JUDI hope you managed to sleep and there is better news for you today. Take care all xx

    Morning :hello:
    Happy Birthday dumpling :bdaycake: :D

RosyRed Thanks for the turmeric info, I'll investigate today. I had a quick google and found supplements which might be better for me because I don't like turmeric, but I'm sceptical of that type of thing, I always wonder if there's enough of the active ingredient to actually make a difference. I should probably use the proper stuff and find ways to disguise the flavour :D

Hope all goes well today TravellingAbuela xx

I was called outside last night “you HAVE to see this!” so I went out and stared at the sky, having no idea what I was supposed to be looking at. I was told there was a moon halo, “oh yeah, I see it now” lol. I'd never heard of that before, it was quite impressive. I told a couple of people what it was, as if I knew what I talking about, lol, then came back in to google it :D

My piece of slate has arrived at the stonemason's place, he's going to cut it and bevel the front edge today. The furniture isn't quite right in the lounge, I won't know exactly where to put a couple of small things til the fireplace is finished so they're in front of it at the moment. I decided to move them out of the way so when master tru does the work (later this week, I think), it's clear for him to start without having to faff around first. I moved a speaker, a pile of books and some baskets then my arm gave up.The table is quite long and thin but very light, I can usually just pick it up with no effort but I was going to stand it on one end then shuffle it across the floor. My shoulder refused to cooperate so I tried to lift it upright with my left hand, which is completely uncoordinated, lol, and it kept tipping to one side as I lifted. I gave up, feeling very cross with myself :D

Quite pleased with myself later in the day, I managed to clean out the fridge! I'd like to do the cupboards but I'm worried I'll empty them then it'll be too painful to put everything back. A job for another day, I think.

Good morning and Happy Birthdsy Dumpling. Hope your daughter finds her medication helpful.

judi, that's scary, but at least you know he is safe for now.

    TA, best wishes for today.

I have a late start this morning, an appointment which is pretty local, so will go straight to that and then office for the rest of the day. Then I'll be at home for a break, using up time off in lieu. Wahey!

I was late last night so made my own dinner. The chaps had home made beefy burgers and chips and so forth, but I had a mushroom and cheese omelette and it was just what I wanted. I would have had salad too but they'd eaten everything except a bit of lettuce so I'm probably going to get scurvy now.

Washing machine just finishing a smallish load, the weatherman says it will be dry so it can go out. I do like being able to get stuff dry outside rather than putting it on racks, it smells and feels so much better.

Another colleague has announced her retirement and I did the congratulations and how lovely for you thing, all the while meanly thinking when will it be my turn. Which was very selfish but at least I kept it to myself.
Onwards and upwards, I will sally forth soon and do the best job I can, given my ancientness and current level of decrepitude, I have the remains of a stye on one eye, a mouth ulcer and somehow a cut lip, plus hay fever and arthritis, and I feel about 100. This won't do, I must somehow get myself into a positive frame of mind.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Morning all,

Slept reasonably well considering. Didn't feel hubby get out of bed to go to work but Youngests work van woke me as he pulled off to go to work.
A quiet day for me I hope.

Dumpling, wishing you a very happy birthday.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

Morning everyone. It looks dull outside, perhaps it'll pick up later.

Happy Birthday to Dumpling, your day sounds lovely so I hope you enjoy it.

TA - you sound completely drained and worn down. Please look after yourself in all this mess, you're looking after everyone else and 'you' may get lost in all of it. Personal experience talking!

Yesterday I decided, again, to cut out sugar from my diet. Then I decided that I couldn't possibly throw out the lovely lemon tart which was not quite finished. It is now. :j

I've got a committee meeting tonight - I'm not a fan of committees, not a fan of meetings and not a fan of going out in the evening for one. Yes, I sound a bit grumpy about it. :rotfl:

I hope everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Tuesday to all.

Tru, maybe you should speak to your Dr about the way your arm stops co-operating?

Judi, hope you have positive news soon xx

TA, could you call an emergency gathering of your girlfriends to allow you to off-load some of your worries?

Just finishing a cuppa before getting up for work. DH has the cat asleep on him so think he'll be staying put in bed got a bit! Prawn stir fry for tea, leftovers for DH's lunch and a cheese & ham sarnie for mine as will be away from the office so can't take anything needing reheating or knife & fork!
