..are they the same size ?
I currently don't have a lid on my turntable . ( a pink triangle turntable , very fragile lids & mine broke ).
Al my stuff is in storage at the moment , from flat move.
Was thinking of getting another one, but assume they are expensive and not sure where to checkout.
I was walking past a charity shop, and I noticed that they had a hi fi cabinet for sale . This cabinet, had a facility where you could lift the glass lid up, so you don't need a lid for your turntable .
It cost £80, although it had a small stereo in there which I don't need.
I'll stop rambling on now
Thanks

Well considering the vinyl comes in its maximum diameter of 12 inches, it's probably safe to assume all turntable sizes are the same so therefore the lid sizes of the players should be fairly standard wise - including the stylus and anything that sits at the side of the deck - a 13 inch lid should suffice.
That being said different players will have different ways of connecting the lid. It may be safe to assume that they simply lift up on two plastic lugs or they swivel off or whatever.
Bear in mind the whole point of the lid is to protect the equipment when its not in use, you can probably get away with anything big enough that covers the entire deck. If the worse comes to the worse, wrap it in cling film0 -

Well Neil, only partly true, unfortunately.
The turntable (rotating part) usually have a max size round about 12" but some cheap ones are smaller diameter.
However: the lid usually fits over the static plinth and the size of those varies especially when they have to accommodate a complex tone arm and controls etc.
Note that link posted by the cyclist is a great solution, not cheap but with custom sizes!0 -

I still have my Pink Triangle from 1982, although domestic considerations mean that I have had to curtail my interest in customised hi-fi.
If you still want to use your Pink Triangle then they really do sound much better without the lid. If you just want to keep out the dust then anything will do. Or leave it uncovered and give it the occasional shot from a can of tin of compressed air.
With a “half-decent” arm and moving coil cartridge The Pink Triangle still takes some beating after 35 years even though it looks like it has been thrown together in somebody's shed - which actually I think it probably was:).0 -

One of the founders of PT is still in the buisiness of producing turntables, with a company called the funk firm. If you fancy buying a replacement, check out the eye watering price list.

Might order one of those Achromats to replace the original mat on my Rega turntable though. I got that back in service last year. Had to get a new lid for that, but those are still available as are new turntables..0 -
Thanks for those latest bits of advice and knowledge.
I have an interesting ( I think ) story to tell , about my particular turntable : a friend of mine back in the late '80s lost touch.
We lost contact for about 4 years . In that time, he inherited this turntable . It was kinda unfinished. It was made by an old school friend of his , who died in a tragic accident .
My friend wanted me to buy it .He needed cash, and knew I like budget seperates etc.
The arm needed replacing . The lid was barely stable .
I got a regs tone arm for it. The bar stewards I got to fit it, took the high quality thick canker and replaced it with the standard phono lead. It still sounds amazing. Then , a while later shelving collapsed in the middle of the night and a tiny piece of the arm broke .
(The part on the head shell you hold with your 2 fingers .
Ontop of that , one day I was changing the plug that I previously put on the turntable . It was on one of those tiny plugs that save space etc. So, I bit the wire , trying to extend it . Silly and careless.
Guess what, my front tooth flew across the room . I wasn't in pain..just shock. I will be getting a bridge in the gap now , as the post is loose and tooth keeps falling out.
I think this turntable is haunted.:rotfl: After all it was made up the road from the old Kent road / camberwell
P t were a strange company . A lot of these turntables look the same but are called different things. A bit like me really .
I think this model is called the little pink thing.
I know about funk farm. Some of their turntables don't have lids afaik.
I only wanted a new lid for dust protection. I forgot about the compressed air . Great idea .
I'll stop rambling now0 -
$0.68, possibly much tougher and pink, plus multi use, but picture vanished?
New picture: This basin is from ebay and £6,
Thought about taking your lid to an aquarium shop as they might be able to fix your lid, or make a bespoke one? Think it may cost more than the lid on the other post0 -
