Yes, i plan to update all our figures as of end June 2019, (as there will be only a small pro-rata wage to include (£600), peanuts in the grand scheme of things), which i'll mention at the start of this thread, and also include a link to the new thread once i start it.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
What will I be??
I'm not drawing a pension and not able to, so I'm not "retired"
I'm not looking for work, so I'm not "unemployed"
Am I "A Lady of Independent means"? - nah sounds too posh!
...."housewife" it is then!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

I was an accidental-retiree age 52. As I share the care of disabled mum, I settled for 'carer'. Perhaps you could start a new category: 'FIREee'?0 -
I just used to say 'not working'.0

I only meant retired like "she retired to the drawing room" as in, removed herself from somewhere (work, in your case!) :rotfl: - it does not actually mean old, decrepit, on the scrap heap - despite what you see in some people's eyes when you talk to them
Surely you are on a career break (between work and state pension)?Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Sorry no, my comment was not in response to anyones use of the word Retired!!
It's mainly when having to fill in applications for official stuff....those damn drop down boxes where you have to state "Occupation"
A career break sounds good!!! Just it might be a 21 year one!!!!! A gap year on steroids!!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
The sun has got his hat on...hip hip hip hooray!!!!!! Finally!!!!
Quick trip to Aldi for a shop, then it's Garden and Prosecco all the way. (switch off / unplug the phones!!!)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Right, while I get some respite from the heat today....I've updated our figures for end June 2019, and officially declared enough is enough. (only 3 weeks to go at work!)
As of today our total FIRE pot stands at....£536,129. This is made up of...
DC pension pots - £303,729
S&S ISAs - £133,648
Fixed term cash - £69,715
Easy access cash - £29,037 (net of stoozed CC balances)
For the 12 months to date we have spent £11,572, mainly due to not having an early Winter Sun holiday this year (c.£1500). So our plan draw a starting amount of £15,000 is looking very generous and even upping this to £20,000 is not outside of our comfort zone. (still within the 4% "rule")
As advised up post, our FIRE pot is in addition to DH's DB and both our SP's, but they don't start kicking in for at least another 14 years.
I'm now going to start another thread for the next part of our adventure.....drawdown!!!
It's time to start digging up those squirrelled nuts!!!! (I'll post the links once its up). Hope to see you over there.
