As a landlord, what are the advantages and also disadvantages of 6 month, 12 month, longer, fixed term tenancies.
Just in case I have missed anything, as I am getting really annoyed with tenants moving after 6 months, having told me they will be long term or the other this is my forever home.

It costs money to move and it's stressful so perhaps the issue isn't the length of fixed term offered but the landlord and/or property.0

Well tenants don't typically move after 6 months for no reason, you could be unlucky or there could be underlying issues.
That said, if you offer tenancies for longer, you may have less choice of tenants and struggle to evict when you need to
Similarly should you need to liquidate assets, it would be much harder / more costly0 -

Longer the term, less flexibility for each partytenants moving after 6 months, having told me they will be long term or the other this is my forever home
* property is poorly maintained, hard/expensive to heat etc
* neighbours (or neighbourhood) noisy/messy etc
* landlord is too demanding, intrusive etc0 -
6 months are good for a trial to see how the tenants get on. Tenants who really like the property do not move on after 6 months. Did you buy this property to let or is it one that you used to live in? Did you do any research before you decided to let that property?0

Yeah: Probably a bit like tenants getting really annoyed with landlords issuing s21s after 6 months, having told those tenants they will be long term deal & you can stay as long as you like..
Tenants (assuming you offer 6 month deals) are merely exercising their absolute legal right.0 -
