Cyprus Car Hire - No Credit Card

Hello,

I recently found a thread on here that was for Spain but I wonder whether any one has had any experiences with hiring cars in Cyprus?

I discovered in the small print of my previous booking that a credit card is required for the company to be able to put a hold of 900 euros against it for the excess. Regretfully I don't have a credit card & nor do I want to, or think that I could in time, obtain one just for just this. Luckily I have been able to get a refund but I am now without a car & we booked our holiday on a self-catering basis thinking that we would be out exploring every day.

Has any one else experienced this before but still be able to hire a car in Cyprus or more specifically, Paphos without a credit card? We fly out on the 19th April so a little pushed for time as I am concerned if anything else goes wrong, I will loose time to fix it due to the bank holiday weekend.

Thank you very much in advance for any suggestions,

Cali

Have a browse of the tripadvisor Paphos forums, there may be more ideas there.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

have a look at above ... Contact George or Kula.

Took a pre-authorised from my debit card ...

Used them a few times ... And cannot fault the service.

Collect from airport ... No queuing ...... And go into office to pay within a couple days.
  • Thank you both, very useful information. I have posted on the Tripadvisor forum but will also trawl through the previous posts (should have done that first I know) & I have sent an enquiry to Easy Rental.

    Kind regards,

    Cali

George & Kula get my vote too, lovely people, note that they are nothing to do with the Easy group of companies ... they say they had the name before Stelios!!!

    Two things to note ...
Easter in Cyprus is more important than Christmas. Many places close for a week = don't leave it till Easter Saturday to sort out :)
Many 'traditional' Cypriots e.g. George & Kula respond better to phone calls.
I suggest that you call them asap.

If that fails, maybe try Savvas here

Good luck, have fun, where are you staying? :)

As already suggested on Tripadvisor, if you have a debit card, Elephant is an option. If you email or better ring them and explain the situation, they will be able to give you first hand advice.

I've used them many times and not had a problem.
