  • Morning everyone,

I had a lovely weekend, including winning £300 from a £2.50 bet!! WOOHOO!

Lovely morning today. I did manage to sleep through my alarm somehow (first time in my life) so I was too late to get to the gym which means I'm in work super early instead.

Spanish lesson again tonight which I'm looking forward to.

AoD - I also tend to stay away from people with those axe murderer badges hahaha!

Wow - well done on the win Specky!

Lovely sunny morning here and I'm sitting here about to make my second cuppa of the day.

Later on I need to pop out to the shops and sort out something for dinner. It may be soup as I have celery and one potato to use up plus some leeks in the freezer. Also need to get a couple of Easter cards for the family; hadn't realised it was so soon!

Had a good time at the new pub music session last night but it also brought it home that I need to do more practise as I couldn't keep up with the speed of a lot of the tunes! Have now set up a WhatsApp group so that we can arrange transport between us instead of everyone texting everyone else.

    Hope everyone's day goes well.

Well done Speky it will help with your forthcoming move into your own house, exciting, but expensive. Our second house that we moved into in London in 1975 the previous people had removed every lightbulb in the house and I wasn't happy to have to replace all of them on the day of the move before it got dark.I had to move on my own with a 5 & 7 year old as my OH was on the IoW at his step-father's funeral. But the kids were great and very helpful. Must have been something about the road as when my neighbours moved out they removed all the plants from their garden !!! my new neighbour couldn't believe how bare her garden had become overnight, nowt so queer as folk is there.

Well the sun is up and shining and I have my three DGS to look after today, and thinking about gardening I may set them the task of removing some of the junk from their garden, broken footballs etc and clearing up some of the tat out there the binmen come tomorrow so there are some garden waste branches that they can put into their wheelie waste bin as well.kepp them occupied and it stops any arguments :):):)

Hope everyone has a good day and the sun shines down on you all

    cheers chums

    Morning All

Bright and sunny at the moment, I'll get the bathroom mats in the wash once I've had a shower. Washing just about dried yesterday before the rain came on.

Knitted a hat to go with some booties yesterday and watched a couple of films, going to do lots of overdue housework today, the dust bunnies are gathering under the sofas!

Hope you all have a good week. Take care. XX

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

OH has phoned the mower man, we have to take the mower to him which may prove interesting. When we bought it the box filled the back of the car, so I will have to remove the handle, O doubt I will get it to fold down enough.

The air here is still quite frosty.......in fact its more than frosty.......
Its a fine morning but a lot cooler, I have the towels in the washer. We sat out for a short while yesterday, my knees caught the sun, so it was very strong.

Read the meters, gas consumption going down as I switch the heating off whilst the sun shines into the sitting room. The kitchen door is usually open so no point having heat in there. I will switch it off completely when we go away and unless it is absolutely freezing it will not go on again until October when it will be on twice a day, when we get and and when we go to bed.

Doubt if the Monday clean will get done, so it will have to wait till tomorrow, although I have to go for a blood test first thing to see about putting my medication up to the full 10mgs. I might just get the shower room and toilet done, the bedroom will have to wait.

    Chicken salad for supper tonight.

Agghhh OH has just come in with the tape measure, he just does not believe that the mower will not go into the car. I give up. At the least the handle has to be folded down you just cannot get a quart into a pint pot. Melt down over getting the mower in the car. OH declared he was fed up of being nagged, everyone said he was hen pecked and he was leaving....right, get going but you are not taking my car............he is still here. I am so fed up with him......how I have put up with his antics for the last 27 not 25 years I just do not know, my heart problems are due to the stress of bailing him out every time he is ill, to say I am at the end of my tether is putting it mildly.

Jackie - when we moved in here (35 years ago, how did that happen?), the previous owners took all the curtain rails and tried to take up the carpet gripper rods and ended up breaking up the edges of the marley tiled floor.

Conversely when we bought the Yorkshire house the owners left nearly all the furniture including some Victorian pieces they had bought which suited the house.

We've got visitors coming today, DH had told me it was tomorrow so I'd planned my house cleaning accordingly. I wasn't best pleased to have to spend yesterday's beautiful day cleaning. DH spent the day cleaning the drive so the outside now looks better than the inside (I've still got to do a bit of vacuuming and mopping). The visitors are DH's bestie and wife, they've been friends since they were two but I get on very well with them as well. We're going to lunch at the Houses of Parliament tomorrow, followed by David Baddiel's new show.

DS and DW came for lunch yesterday because we won't see him now until the middle of May for one reason or another.

    Morning all,

What a lovely weekend it's been, though the temp dropped here about 4 and it went really dull :( After DGS had gone home we drove a few miles to a small town which was having a chocolate festival . We couldn't park anywhere it was so packed so gave up & took my DBs birthday pressie over-I was really disappointed,it looked lovely.

TA, I symphathise with you on the state of the house after DGC leave, know exactly what you mean.and we only had 1 this weekend as DGD was away, but she'll be here later.I hardly seem to get chance to get straight and then they're back.If ever DS finishes the refurb on his house and moves back out we won't see them quite as much and then I suppose we'll say we never see them :rotfl:

We were mad on Friday. After 16 months our road has finally opened after the flood and subsequent landslide and the contractors have done a smashing job, with lovely smooth pavements.Along came the utility company and dug up the pavement less than 2 weeks after and its still cordoned off now.Why they didnt arrange to do it before the tarmac was laid I dont know. 4 men in 3 big vans came and watched another man dig a small hole :mad:

Tru-hope your right side feels better soon.I wondered whether you've ever tried turmeric paste?I've been giving it Ly1a and also having a spoonful in hot milk at night myself and Im sure I sleep better.Theres lots on the web about golden paste, golden milk etc but its meant to be a powerful anti immflamatory amongst other properties.

I was cross the other day,got my overlocker out for the 1st time since we moved only to find an internal metal part has broken off.I've looked online for spare parts and cant find anything for that make,I think its German and I bought it secondhand a few years ago.I think it must have got damaged in transit :( Can't afford to replace an item that only gets a bit of use.

Looks like its drizzling out now.Still the pooch is restricted to very short walks atm with her lame leg so I wont get too wet.
Hope everyone has a good Easter, dont seem to get on to post much these days but always try to read xx

AOD what on earth is chocolate concrete? It sounds intriguing! :D

RosyRed sorry to butt in when you were speaking to Tru, but where do you get turmeric paste from, and how awful does it taste? Just wondering if it might be worth my while giving it a try. :o

Good afternoon - the sun did come out, along with blustery winds so I put a washing load on and hung it out.

I've been up to Oban to get some new herb plants and a couple of other plants for the garden. Now that all the rubbish has been removed I can see what's there. Happily the clematis is in bud for the first time since I planted it last year.

Then I went to visit a neighbour, up a rubbish track with lots of potholes, to sort out his Mac again. Think it's done this time, I know next to nothing about Macs but muddled my way through formatting a new portable hard drive, there's just so many unfamiliar commands to a Mac.

My unplanned day was good. Now I have to knuckle down to some 'work' - well a few emails and a couple of new spreadsheets.

I hope everyone has a good evening.
