O/S Daily Monday 10 April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, but cloudy, forecast is for much cooler, and possibly some rain.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Lunch yesterday was the steak, liver, sausage, mash, veg and gravy, tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg.

We had a very chilled/lazy day yesterday, I collected my winnings. Back to work for me today, expect it will be either manic or dead - not sure which! Judging by the last few Mondays' manic seems to be the fav. We'll see!

Keep safe and well x

Morning all and thanks to Nmlc for starting us off.
Been awake since about 4am as DH is snoring, he sounds like a set of deflating bagpipes ! So decided to get up and have a cup of tea before a busy morning.
First DH has his oncology injection then pick up his prescription, collect the parts for the car, go to the pharmacy to fill the prescription, put out DD's rubbish/recycling bins then call round to my Drs to collect my prescription.
Hopefully do nothing major this afternoon, maybe watch a film or some catch up tv.
Tea tonight don't know, will freezer dip later.
    Enjoy your day everyone.

    Morning :hello:

Thanks for the well wishes for my dad, I wanted to reply the other day but my arm went dead for a few days and I couldn't type, lol.

TravellingAbuela I think people forget about the one who lives with the patient. Everyone concentrates on the poorly one, don't they? But the partner is usually the one with the stress and worry. Dad has doctors and mum worrying about him, so I'll leave them to it and just concentrate on mum's stress levels instead. Was the same a while back, when dad had tests for asbestosis. Turned out there's a bit of asbestos in his lung, cells surrounded it (as they're supposed to) and left a tiny bit of scarring, but it didn't progress beyond that. His body must be good at protecting itself, lol. He wasn't worried, she was in a complete panic. She refuses to let me come along to appointments (I think she thinks that dad will then worry about it being worse than it is, and maybe we're hiding something from him, if I come along). So I just make lots of coffee when she's here, and answer the phone to her a lot if she isn't!

My shoulder seems to have two settings – painful and numb (how?!), and painful and tingly. At least it no longer feels like a dead weight and I can move it a bit more now, so I suppose I should be grateful :D I have four exercises for my hip, two of them involve lying on my back and I have to get down on all fours for another one – impossible at the moment so I'm only doing one exercise. My hip is stiffening up and I'm limping again. Might go to the doctor and ask for a transplant for the whole right side of my body :rotfl:

I mis-timed the opening of the chicken shed and got smacked in the face by Goldie's right wing :D That's the most exciting thing that happened to me lately, lol, I can't really do anything and I'm bored bored bored *grumble*

    Morning all,

Thanks for starting us off Nmlc. I was going to start the thread myself but checked you were online first.

What a weekend! Most of it centred around cars. I hate cars as much as I hate football. Two new(ish) cars and both back at the dealership they bought them from which means hubby has had to take youngest to work before driving to work himself which means an extra 50 miles on top of his usual 80 miles. It will be the same tonight and every day until his car is fixed or he can borrow the works van...That will please the neighbours. 😁

Youngest was in what I call "Spoilt child' mood most of yesterday. Sulking, and even at one point answered me back. We get on so well usually that it came as a surprise....He didn't get away with it though.

The house, I don't know where to start. There's tools everywhere. Just been dumped. I'm annoyed and haven't got out of bed yet.

One thing I'm glad we did was give the hounds a hair cut. They look like puppies again....well that's if you don't look at Blackuns grey eyebrows.

Had to roll hubby over in the night in case he stopped breathing....Not in my bed is he pegging it! I decided years ago, when he pegs it, it will either be another stroke or on a motorway. He electrocuted himself once. Took out a whole Asda store but all it did was burn his hand a little bit.

    Anyway I'm waffling.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone.

It's a bit grey / white outside, no blue or yellow at all.

After unpacking yesterday I did a bit of bill paying, wine ordering and phone calling before having a delicious glass of wine. Some friends I haven't seen since 'retiring' and moving away in 2013 phoned to say they were coming up to stay in one of the holiday cottages in a couple of weeks. :j it'll be so lovely to see them. So, I cancelled my wine order and doubled it! That's visitors next week and the week after, never rains but it pours.

I'm still in bed, may stay here a little bit longer.

    Anyway, happy Monday to all.

    Morning

Not an especially good weekend (I worked Saturday so Sunday was my weekend) as still blighted by my various problems/worries :o

Off to work soon and I really can't face it today...would much rather just go back to bed.

    Take care all.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a dry and bright morning here this morning. I've been awake for a while now as I was worrying about DD14. We are off to the doctors early as she has to have an ECG and blood tests before she starts her medication today. I think they are putting her on the same one as me due to mine suiting me so well. I hope there isn't too many side effects for her, she just seems so young to be on such hard core meds. Anyway, I am worried inside but putting on a positive face for her. I will get her up in a minute so she has a chance to eat breakfast and shower etc.

DD15 is off to the orthodontist this morning. I think she is having her brace off this week so she will be happy. DD17 will be gently persuaded to leave the house and go and do some shopping for me.

I am making bolognese for tea, I have some courgettes to have with mine instead of spaghetti. I don't mind that and I tried the cauliflower rice the other day and that was nice too.

Struggling to find things to write about so I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning everyone, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

tru, I am sending good wishes for your dad, your arm and your hip.

I've had a real rubbish night's sleep and look like a cross witch. And now I have to go to work, stay awake and function properly, like a human.

I have made a box of chocolate concrete for a colleague and some to leave at home for son, colleague's share is all packed and ready, must not forget it. I do dislike that stuff but have been inveigled into making it.

I need to eat some toast and have a shower, wash my hair, get it dry and get dressed. It is taking a while to dry my hair and probably should get some chopped off but cba. I usually reckon that when it gets to the point where I can tuck it into my knickers, it should be cut. It does grow so fast but I'd be miserable if it didn't I suppose.

I can hear the bin lorry, I've also discovered that the binmen come along once a week to do a litter pick, they do different streets on a rota. I was chatting to them on Friday, which is our litter pick day. My son is very angry with me, says I should not be chatting to people I see out and about, he says they might be dangerous people. I am reasonably selective and I don't approach people but do mostly respond when they chat to me, specially people with dogs. I think not chatting is so unfriendly and it woukd make me sad. Obviously if someone is wearing a badge saying I'm a notorious axe murderer, I would not be chatty. Anyway, I'm still here. Not attacked or anything fearsome.

Hope everyone has a good day.

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Just enjoying my second coffee in peace with no fear of children waking up and causing chaos. DD and her bf came to collect the girls about 6.30 yesterday and finally left with all the bags, games, laptops etc about 7.30. PEACE! DS and his lady called mid afternoon and I shamed at the state of the place!

DD had bought us a bottle of wine and big box of choccies as a thank you and they were enjoyed with our feet up watching Vera - in peace!! They are all going to the caravan tomorrow for about 10 days and, after a couple of days, we will start to miss them!

The gas service chap is due back this morning about 9.00 to replace the pipe that goes outside from the boiler (forget it's name) but I shall leave him in Mr TA's capable hands and pop into town. I don't buy the girls Easter eggs as they get more than enough from other people so I usually get them all something to wear or a gift card to choose something for themselves. Need to do that and drop them off before they go tomorrow.

Odd food items are needed whilst I am out - the fridge is almost bare. Usual hollow legged kids eating us out of house and home!. The middle one is built like a whippet but can eat for England. No idea what we are eating today so must do a freezer dive before I head into town. I think some sensible meals after the rubbish we have eaten this weekend.

Have a nice day and (HUGS) if wanted/needed. Take care all. Hope the appt goes well NAN. xx

    Morning all

Nice bright day here again but I don't think its meant to be as warm as the weekend, off to work for me and its our Easter holidays now and its bouncy castle day at work so the place will be rammed !! I have next week off though so not too bad.

Dinner tonight will be a chicken chorizio and potato traybake, its an all in one thing so minimum effort evolved, it has paprika and lemon juice over it and I might add some olives.

Need to do an online shop at some point so might start that tonight.

I had a message via my mum that Roger is coming today, Too late !!! we've done it, I hope he doesn't come and do it again and want paying !!

Right better get on have good days all xx
