Council Tax,How do I pay?

Me & my boyfriend/partner is moving into a rented house in 2 weeks time.
I've always lived with my parents & he was house sharing so everything was included.
We were both wondering how we actually go about paying council tax and setting ourselves up to do so or is this automatically done when we sign the final contract and get keys ?

I can't seem to find any information online to help us, it only states how to pay but not how to set it up?

Sorry if this is a silly question or in the wrong place. i couldn't find where this thread should go. Thank you

Don't forget to read the Gas and Elec meters (and water if metered) and contact your local service providers to set up your supply.
    Other things to do:
    Arrange TV licence
    Home contents Insurance
    Internet provider

Others to notify of your change of address:
    your employers
    your bank
DVLA - to change driving licence
    Doctors
    Dentist
Car Insurance (if you own a car)
    Credit card company

I'm sure I haven't thought of them all but this will be a good start!
Good luck in your new home.

Also the registration certificate if you have a vehicle, the driving licence and vehicle are separate.

You may need to notify the following:

The number has changed. The premium rate 0845 number is no longer in use. Check for a new number, likely starting 03 or 080.

When looking for contact numbers for all of your old and new suppliers be aware that any websites showing premium rate 084, 087 or 09 numbers are either showing out of date information or are scam websites showing fake numbers. There are hundreds of these.

Reputable companies use numbers starting 01, 02, 03 or 080.

    Anything starting 084, 087 or 09 is probably a scam. See http://www.fairtelecoms.org.uk/ICSS

Why are people asking these questions on the internet instead of picking up their phones and dialling the number for their councils? It's worrying!

Given the OP apparently couldn't see the "Council Tax - Moving House" link on the council's website, I suspect they'd have trouble finding their phone number too.
