Thanks - but if you read your link - there's no answer !!0

The answer appears to be to do with the Google Messenger app. You don't say what app YOU are using. If you gave more detail when asking for help you might get more-focused responses.0

This is using the stock txt app on an android 7 phone !The answer appears to be to do with the Google Messenger app. You don't say what app YOU are using. If you gave more detail when asking for help you might get more-focused responses.
It seems to appear on long txt's say 200 characters +0 -
Settings>Apps>All>Messaging>Clear cache & Clear data
Reboot phone
You may need to delete you text history first unfortunately0 -
65536, believe it or not, sounds like a very generic catchall error code (it's an exact power of 2), so there's probably not much to catch that. Can you reset factory settings and see if it reoccurs?0

No clear cache option on messagingl0

It might depend on exactly what phone you have - you may not have stock Android.
On my Huawei P9 Lite (running Huawei's Android 6) it is:
Settings | Apps | Messaging | Storage ... in here there are 2 options - Clear data and Clear cache.
But remember that you might not be using the stock Messaging app ... what's the name of the SMS app that you actually use?0
