It doesn't sound as if more credit is what you need. Certainly not for 'bills'.

Head to the DFW boards for advice on cutting costs instead.

What credit score? There's no such thing as a universal credit score. Do you mean the internal rating that NatWest use?

The type of current account you have isn't reported to any of the credit reference agencies so I can't see how it could make any difference as to how other banks and building societies view you.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say your loan can be paid at any time. Any loan I've ever had requires a set amount to be paid on a set date, not whenever I feel like it. If you do not stick to the terms & conditions of repaying your loan and make the payment late the lender can report that as a late payment to the credit reference agencies.
  • Hi Pixie,
thanks for reply, yes I suppose I do mean nat west scoring then. Also with regards paying the loan at anytime you are correct all payments have been made on a regular monthly date but I can pay in full at any time the outstanding amount with no penalty, ergo the one payment left I could pay today instead of the monthly due date, hope this clears up the confusion

I'm even more confused now as to what you what to escalate with NatWest.
  • ok, nat west say they will help when loan is paid off, that will be in one month plus the delay in showing up as complete- probably two months in bank time. As I said I can pay back at any time, I do not have to wait the month to run the full loan term. I want to do this, inform bank loan is complete and sort out as soon as possible is what im trying to say, Can this be done.
  • Also you say
"The type of current account you have isn't reported to any of the credit reference agencies so I can't see how it could make any difference as to how other banks and building societies view you". why does it appear on my report then and stated as up to date?

If you read what I said, and you quoted me as saying, you will see that I said, "the type of current account you have isn't reported to any of the credit reference agencies," I never said the current account itself was not reported to the agencies.

Are you saying there is only one payment left to make on your current loan? Is that loan with NatWest or another lender?

In fact, do you know what, it doesn't really matter. Take zx81's advice, stop trying to borrow your way out of debt and head over to the Debt Free Wannabe board.

    A bit confusing.

I think OP currently has credit card debt, car finance and a loan with someone other than Natwest totalling £9,0000.

During a conversation with Natwest a new loan to pay off outstanding debt was mentioned. OP applied, but their application was (narrowly) rejected due to affordability.

OP's loan is coming to an end: only one payment left. After the last payment is made OP will obviously have more disposable income. OP is asking (us) for advice about asking Natwest to look at their loan application again, taking this in to consideration.

Natwest's decision can be appealed against:
Can I appeal against your decision?

Yes, although we cannot give any assurances that our original decision will be overturned. You should support your appeal by providing any additional relevant information that was not taken into account at the time of our original decision. Full details of our appeals procedure can be obtained from your local branch.

I suspect Natwest will respond that OP should apply again after making the final payment on their current loan (an waiting a couple of months for their credit report to be updated).
