Broadband packages have no credit?

Options
Hi there,

I'm searching for broadband packages, have no credit and am about to declare bankruptcy so looking for a credit check free option. Talk Talk is one of my creditors so they are out as an option. I'm not very good at understanding which options suit my needs so any help would be great!

-Budget is £30-£40 a month, line rental included
-Would like unlimited as due to illness I am often stuck indoors and the internet is my link to the world outside
-Don't want tv or phone package
-Not sure about broadband or fibre - would like to stream catch up TV on my internet telly
-Looked at Tentel but after selecting options they ask if you want to pay £90 for their upgraded box - does that mean the standard one is rubbish?

Clearly I know what I need but have no idea how to get it :rotfl:

Thanks all!!
Avo

You are obviously not going want to deal with the companies which charge quite a lot more for really good customer service, so why not ring the big 'economy' suppliers like Sky, Plusnet, BT etc and ask about policy.

On some ads Sky mention that they may require upfront payments from certain customers, so if you exclude phone calls ,which are paid in arrears, as broadband and line are prepaid, they may help you. (You have to have a line, unless you go for Virgin, or there's no way for broadband to reach you.)

In most cases fibre will be more expensive than ADSL, but we only get just over 4mbps and it's fine for catchup tv, unless both laptops are also in use.

Avocadotoast, have you ever considered these people https://pulse8broadband.co.uk/

Apparently they give very good service, there can be a no contract option, so you can only pay for a month if you wish, BUT there is an activation fee if you are on a monthly plan. If you sign up for a year there was no activation fee. I am of the unsubstantiated opinion this could be quite expensive if due to missed payments as they possibly will keep disabling and re-enabling your service every month or two , so you will have to keep paying.

For me £25 is a bit too rich when I can get Plusnet for £17. They do not do a TV plan, and I do not see a telephony talk for nothing service either, they are an old school internet provider.

Another way is what my friend did, and paid the neighbour over half of his broadband fee (£50 a year), but this is probably not in accordance with the neighbours isp's terms and conditions ;)

I will also send you a PM soon to discuss something else.
