Cheap sim for data only for tablet

I've given my grandson a Samsung galaxy tablet - 10 inches.
He watched a lot of you tube, Disney car racing & stuff.
What would be a good deal on a data only sim for him, it's vitally important that once it's gone, it's gone & big bills can't be notched up!!!
I have no idea how much data is needed, I wouldn't save loads as he will mostly use it wi fi

You could get a pay as you go data sim from Three and maybe buy a £10 credit top up from supermarket, you can also buy a three sim for £1 in the supermarket checkout. do you know if your Tablet is locked to a network like Vodafone or EE or 02 or Three, or is the Tablet "unlocked to any network" which means you can use any sim card in it. A giffgaff sim maybe an Idea

Also depends where they are going to be using the data sim because some networks cover different areas and some have 3g and or 4g coverage.Let them eat cake (Marie Antoinette 1765)0 -
Get a pay as you go sim with a monthly bundle.

Then if he uses up the inclusive allowance and he hasn't got any credit, the data will stop, you won't get a bill like you do with a post-pay contract.
Most will have some minutes and texts too; just ignore that aspect, they don't really add any significant amount to the bundle price.0 -
It's not locked to any network0

You can probably get it cheaper if you check around online.====0 -

Equivalent of £1.99 for 1GB a month.====0 -
If he watches a lot of Youtube videos expect to either pay out a lot of money for data or the data you do pay for to be gone in a trice.
My granddaughter can easily chew through 1GB in an evening.
Why can't he use it on WiFi? If it's because there is no internet at home it would be cheaper to pay for fixed internet than for mobile data.0 -

If you read the OP it says most use will be on wifi.====0 -

I'm going to use it with a USB dongle when my Virgin broadband contract ends (soon).

Well you may need a Three dongle or mifi and find out if it works in your house, I use to put my dongle on a 2 metre usb cable to get it nearer the window and the mobile tower was across the valley and I use to get 5mb per second which is good enough for me.Let them eat cake (Marie Antoinette 1765)0
