When did you last clean behind your fridge?

  • I've never cleaned behind my cooker, so can't get to it.

I've not cleaned behind my fridge since I had the kitchen refitted almost 8 years ago :o.

My excuse: it's fitted in really tightly between a kitchen cupboard and a wall so is a nightmare to move in and out, plus I'm new to this cleaning activity.

    Hi there

Hello Grannybroon....ooh a trip to scotland..all that seafood n whiskey(sp)... book me in ;) .. i love cooking.. but only have me n hubby to do it for most of the time

Ok .. will admit to pulling the fridge freezer out monthly and attacking the element thingy with the brush attatchment on the vaccume :o ...and giving the floor a quick wipe over...
Can't move the cooker as its a strange jobby -it is gas rings :T , gas oven, or you can have it electric for the grill and electric fan assisted...never knew such a thin existed  ..but there are no gaps down the side..thank heavens

The "overflow" fridge n freezer are in the wash room in the cellar... hubby has left them free standing so i can do those without moving them...-walks away, muttering that i really must get a life :p ...
In my defence - i want to point out, that i wasn't like this until i joined here.. so i blame all you lovely people...:D

My MIL cleans behind appliences all the time and thinks that this is normal - I'm a complete slattern you see and not good enough for her darling boy (she's got a point). I'm always embarrassed, when an engineer comes to fix something, at all the gunk down the back. TBH mostly I can't actually move the things, e.g. washing machine

My fridge sits in a large gap under a worktop. There's a good few inches space either side, so I poke the vacuum nozzle down the sides of the fridge every few days whenever I vacuum the kitchen floor. I have house ferrets and they're not averse to eating food behind there. So I have to drag it out at least once a week to clean it properly. Thank goodness they can't squeeze behind the cooker:rotfl:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I clean behind my fridge, washing machine, and TD every week, and I do the windows fortnightly.

  • Merlot and arlybarly, you are making me hang my head in shame :embarasse

I can't remember when I last cleaned behind my fridge and come to think of it,my windows could do with a clean too.

    Maybe I'll do them tomorrow....maybe :D
  • OK, confession time, I have never ever pulled the fridge out to clean behind it or the cooker for that matter!!!

Just in case you think I'm a case for Kim and Aggie, I do keep the house clean and I'm very fussy about food. When the family start eating behind the fridge and cooker then I'll get the hoover out and give them a good clean, the fridge and cooker that is!
