O/S Daily Friday 7 April 2017
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very cloudy and overcast but dry underfoot.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy - menfolk all had second helpings, so none left. Tonight will be something quick and easy with chips - not sure what yet.
Yesterday was semi productive, visited bank and building society, continued with the washing and drying, also cleaned the bathrooms, and did some housework, took car from service and MOT - fortunately nothing wrong with it, so no extra costs I wasn't expecting.
Today I'll be heading to the SM first thing, then cracking on with washing, drying and ironing, I do need to do some baking/cooking, and there's a few pc/admin jobs that need doing, so plenty to keep me occupied.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I am up and ready to start the Friday tidy. Well, nearly ready.
Not quite light enough to know whether it will be a good drying day, I hope so as I do like the smell of line-dried washing.
Nothing much to report really!
Hope you all have a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Better night's sleep last night for me. I think once in a while sleepless nights catch up with you and a good sleep slips in now and then to make up for it.
Busy day ahead. We need to be over at the caravan site before 10.00 to meet the service/repair man. Fingers crossed for the final bill!! I'll take us a sandwich each to sustain us in case it takes longer than we are hoping.
Need to be back to pick the 3 DGDs up from school as we have the pleasure (??!!!) of their company all weekend. It was DD's birthday Tuesday (44) and her lovely BF is taking her to Manchester for the w/e. He has booked to see The Commitments, a nice meal, with a spot of retail therapy is on the agenda. So mum and dad to the rescue (again) and we have the girls till Sunday afternoon. Fridge full to bursting in readiness!
I currently have a pan of Bolognese on the go to make up a huge Lasagne for tea. So that can be thrown in the oven when we all get home, with some garlic bread.
TRU hope all goes well with your DD. I know just how your DM is feeling, I have been living with it long enough to understand. Your DD sounds much like Mr TA. He just accepts what they tell him and agrees to any treatment they offer. Then it;s an ongoing case of Que Sera Sera. It's left to me to plan our life around appointments etc and do the worrying for both of us. Which explains why I always look like a frazzled wreck!
Have a good day all and (HUGS) to those in need/want of one. Take care xx Hope all goes to plan HESTER. Happy sailing!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Lovely bright day here again off to work for me but its Friday :jand Im off tomorrow, I am working Sunday but one day over the weekend is not bad.
Shopping came last night and im all stocked up again I got some samphire to have with some fish, we often have this is restaurants and I love it so thought I would try some at home. I also got a leg or lamb for £10 and its a huge one so will do OH and I quite a few meals :T
Dinner tonight might be some salmon and the samphire but if I cant be bothered it will end up a takeaway, I am always very tired on a Friday.
Tru hope all goes well with your dad xx
"Fair Winds and Following Seas" for Hester and Captain Hotstuff xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I'm up bright and early as my grandson thinks sleep is for losers :rotfl:. After the sixth episode of Paw Patrol I have sneaked off to use the computer and catch up with what has been happening on here.
My eldest DD is taking me to the doctors this morning at 8.30 as yesterdays appointment ended up being a very brief phone call and a further appointment today. I am not looking forward to it either as it's another new doctor to me.
Hester, I hope you have many happy years with Captain Hotstuff on your boat xx
Gaaah, I'm so tired but need to stay awake, off to make another cuppa then.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all.
Hester, exciting times for you. I'll be thinking of you as I'm sorting out the tea (fish on Fridays). Not a great fan of fish myself but hubby likes routine (except the time he eats...that's all over the place. Winds me up no end!
Strange nights sleep for me. Bladder (curse the damn thing) got me up at 3. Blackuns bladder at 4. I lay in bed defeated after fighting for bed space, sleep had gone. Hubby was lying on his back snoring then he stopped. Not snoring, breathing. Then he gasped and started snoring again. Lying in a quarter of the bed thinking I was imagining what I'd just seen and heard he did it again! Sleep went out the window till he went to work. I worked with a woman once whose husband died in bed...well it ain't happening to me!
Think I'm going to have to talk to him tonight. Hopefully it's a one off. He doesn't usually lie on his back to sleep but it won't happen again.
Off he goes to work. I sleep and dream I'm at Mom's residential home cleaning her room when the wheel a dead body in front of me in the corridor. Couldn't have been hubby cause he messaged me to ask if I wanted a lift back...he obviously hadn't noticed I'd taken his car. Odd dream as I haven't driven for years. Probably forgotten how to which was evident as I crashed into a Cafe..
Weird night or what?!
Had to send a message to Prodigal last night. He's got a pile of letters that need addressing. Told him to come when his Dad was in. I'll yell at him if I have to deal with him.
Quiet day for me. Pc is still broke and knackered. Installing update number 160 out of 215. It will get there.
Onwards and forwards

Morning everyone.
I've already been 'at work' in my pjs. Did DM's gas and electric meter readings, submitted them online and paid them both too. I'm off into town this morning to make a new will, mind you I fully intend to only leave enough behind to deal with me. In Scotland we have different laws about ways in which we can direct our money and property, it's not as simple as in England so it all needs a bit of legal advice.
Luckily the office is near to George Square so I'll take advantage of Santander's lounge again. Where is Caterina BTW?
Bon voyage Hester. Hope it all goes well.
Happy Friday to everyone.
In edit - of course I meant Virgin lounge, not Santander!0 -
Morning
Had a very difficult week with no resolutions so I know my weekend will be far from relaxing. Not been sleeping at all well so I'm exhausted too.
Working later today and tomorrow morning so no lie in possible till Sunday.
I'm eating loads of rubbish too...comfort eating doesn't work does it? It just makes you fat!
Have a good day all and take care x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Lousy nights sleep. I fell asleep in my chair yesterday afternoon, first time I have done it for ages, will not be doing it again.
Up early, friend coming to help OH make up the sides for the deep beds. Gate chappie came and sorted the gate for us. He has taken up some small slabs which he is going to use on our patio, so no cost to us, he would have to pay to get rid of them. Patio discussed, its going to be a bit bigger, grass will be piles at the top of the garden and left to rot down, excess soil chucked on the deep beds and left over winter, hopefully for the frost to break is down a bit.
I have stewing beef out to cook, 30 minutes max in the pressure cooker, enough for two may be 3 suppers. Will take one carton on holiday with us.
Time to stir my butt.....
Hester Bon Voyage......I hope all goes well, will be pleased to read that you are safe back in Berkshire with your lovely boat.0
