When I applied a few months ago I received a provisional approval by email instantly but nothing more until the debit card came through.

Alls I've had so far is an email just confirming they have received my application and they'll be in touch.

Sounds like a referral. I received the following after submitting the application:
Thanks for applying for a Current Account.

We're delighted to tell you that subject to a few formalities, we've approved your application.

In the next few days you'll receive the paperwork and information for your new account.

I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

I applied for Nationwide, TSB & Co op on the same day.

I was auto accepted for Nationwide and TSB.

The co op was the only one that didn't give me an instant decision.

I got the 'We'll let you know' email when I applied a couple of weeks ago, and thought my numerous applications for current accounts recently had finally caught up with me! But yesterday my debit card turned up without further communication from them.

I logged onto online banking - no problem setting that up and sending test payments. Downloaded the app on my phone and couldn't log on, so rang them up. I hadn't set up security, so was unable to use it even though I could set up standing orders on Internet banking!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?
