I cant offer any advise on how to sort your problem but your post brought back memories of my first car
it was a 1981 metro and come september i would take the carpets out, the car had rubber bungs covering drain holes in the floor they came out and i spent the winter with rubber mats
the car leaked like a sieve and if you didn't pull the drain plugs it would fill up with water in no time, it went back to the dealers many time and replacement seals and copious amounts of sealant never cured the problem
We had this on our old 2001 Corsa C.
Swimming pool effect every time it rained.
The stuff about clearing leaves - well no, it doesn't work if its that seal.
Drilling holes?
Asking for trouble, he told me.
OH reckoned it was a budgerigar of a job & in the end sold it on.
He said for a bangernomics motor it wasn't worth the time it'd take to do it - and that was after the garage offered the seal for free.
