Leaking Corsa

Our 2003 Corsa has developed a leak - the driver footwell carpets are sodden and the water has also spread to the rear seat footwell behind the driver.
I've read online that such leaks are usually from the bulkhead e.g. perhaps the seal around the brake servo and the can be difficult and expensive to identify and solve so I'm thinking that a practical solution would be to drill a drain hole through the floor in the driver's footwell - how big would the hole need to be to be effective?

Thank you

Remove the wipers and front scuttle, remove battery /BRM unit and all associated bits from the inner tray, give it a few coats of underseal to re-seal everything.

Check on the bulkhead behind the engine for a rubber pipe coming out of the bulkhead. This allows the water to drain from the void under the windscreen wipers. It usually gets blocked with leaves.

My aircon has been coming on recently, with the sun warming the car all day etc.

It is of course that time of year......... OP does your car have aircon?

Oh and drilling holes in your floor pan is a ridiculously stupid idea.

This is what I would have suggested.

Drilling holes in your floor is stupid beyond belief.

Or take the existing water and just add salt, no drill required!!

AND in a few years time if you ever run around of fuel, well all I can say is "YABADABADOO!!!".

It's a common problem with water getting in the seal around the brake servo. Won't drilling a hole in the floor cause it to fail the mot.

This one is the correct answer.

Having owned one & done enough reading on it the cause is as above.

Solution is to take scuttle panel off and if I remember right I'm not sure about the dash also or that may be another issue I'm thinking of.

The seal has perished so it would then just need sorting out & stuff putting back together.

I did mine last summer and so far so good. As mentioned, remove scuttle, wiper assembly, clean the perished pedal plate seal and then reseal it. I did mine with some black sealant.

To dry the carpet out it really needs to come out as the sound insulation is half an inch thick and holds a lot of water.

No. Your car has lots of holes drilled in the floor already for things like fuel pipe clips, seatbelt bolts, seat runner bolts.
