All you can do is complain through the bank's normal complaints procedures and if you are not happy with their outcome they will advise you what your next steps are.

I do know that my bank sends me an annual statement showing me what I am paying for and covered and advises me to review and to contact them if I wish to discuss other options if the insurances are no longer required, I guess this update allows the bank to say it has kept in touch with me on a regular basis in case my circumstances change. Which I think is great.

Good luck with your complaint, I do also wonder why you've left it so long, yes I to also have various other insurances and never claimed but appreciate I needed them and still do.

You are bound to get cynical/sarcastic responses on here from your post as that's the way it is.

Apparently they were already getting a 50% discount on the normal fees as well.

And they were using the fee-free overdraft:
.. we get a 50% discount plus a £500 OD fee free. In the past the OD has been a lifeline.

They've admitted knowing about the fee for the account and using the benefits that came with it, but yet they still want to reclaim the fees! And to top it all they complain about getting sarcastic answers. :rotfl:
