just been to 2 gigs in the last week.:j
Great music, but the constant mobile phone recording was a pain.
IMHO for every one person who does it - they are 2 others who don't.
What was good was that the bands told the smart crowd to put down the phones and live in the moment.:T
Oh. and has anyone told anyone else to put down the phone.

I don't usually do concerts or fogs but we made the effort two years ago to see our idol
We paid more for a one night concert then I've paid for a week in the sun abroad
We had a ball. Really loved it, sang and danced our hearts out
We had great seats, within touching distance
My phone came out to take a few photos as our legend arrived on stage and then put away and we lived every minute of the concert. The couple in front of us experienced the night via their iPads
I can see that concert every day in my minds eye. Best night out of my life. The memories are in our hearts, not a camera0 -

If only they played this at the start of the gig. great vid0 -
Oh the sea of !!!!ing white rectangles spoiling all the work of the lighting designer. The past decade has been dreadful for it. So many people are so used to consuming experiences through a screen they forget they're actually at the gig, failing to enjoy it properly.
This goes 10x over when the artist is filming the show with 20 top notch operated cameras with great angles, and a separate OB truck doing a live edit and sound truck doing a clean audio mix.0 -
If someone close by was filming the whole thing, I would shove my face in the lens and shout 'THIS IS FREAKIN' AWESOME. WHY AREN'T YOU WATCHING THIS?'I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0

Kate Bush got this right in asking people to not film it as the gigs were as much a piece of theatre as a concert you needed to submerse yourself in the experience.
It probably helped that her fans would kill for her and who would risk getting chucked out when the chance of ever seeing her live again is probably 0.0001%?0 -
I used to take a lot of photos of gigs - on an actual camera, I hardly ever recorded videos as after the first few short videos (less than a minute) I realised how rubbish the sound is, even if I managed to keep it steady. I'm very short, so I sometimes used to use this to see what was going on if a tall person was in front of me! Then smart phones came out and didn't need to anymore, everyone else had their screens out - usually in the gap where I used to be able to see.
I now don't own a camera, only a smart phone, and smart phones are rubbish at taking photos at gigs, even with my remarkably steady hand held straight up in the air. I take a couple of photos these days, but mostly I jump around and head bang instead. I've never has as much fun in the past few years at gigs since not having a camera.0 -
Tip: if you want to record the gig - please stand to the side of the room, so you don't annoy everyone else!0

A friend of mine records full concerts from the front row, but I don't have the heart to tell her they are crap quality when she shares them. I've attended many concerts and the memories stay in my head, no need for cameras annoying me or anyone else.0

I took my son to see a children's show, wrestling (urgh), and someone in the row in front had their tablet out. It was right between our view of the action so I told them off and they moved it down. Inconsiderate !!!!!.
You certainly don't get the full experience when you're watching via a lens. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0
