Hold off on the quick judgement... :)
I did mention I am also going through a divorce. And that is why I need the extra cash to settle the case and move on.
I am still a UK resident as my house is still in the UK and I will continue to go back every month. While I work in Switzerland now, I have done so in the UK for the last 5 years.

Sorry, I wasn't intending to be judgemental, just a little suprised :)

Good luck with your search for a loan.

You could try taking out a money transfer card and then withdrawing that money to your bank:

MBNA are known for giving high limits. It might not be the £20k (or less) that you're looking for, but assuming you have a very good credit history plus with your high income, they may give you a very high credit limit.

So, this is a credit card who allows you to transfer the available credit to a bank account 'as cash'?
Could I use my current credit cards (combined will be around 10k) which can already help towards my goal.

    Thanks for the reply!

Maybe, it depends who issued the credit cards. For example, I've had a Barclaycard for donkeys and periodically they give me balance transfer and money transfer offers. You'd need to check with your card issuers to see if they will offer you anything. I'm not sure how successful you will be in obtaining credit cards though since you seem to be struggling to get a loan, even your own bank (First Direct) knocked you back.

I think your stumbling block is the fact that you work in Switzerland and get paid into a French account. It doesn't make you look like a UK resident with a UK income even though you maintain a property here. Have you tried getting a loan with the bank your income gets paid into?

Thanks, but I wish I was on 20,000.
I didn't want to be too specific, hence the illustrative figure of "less than 20,000"

If anyone really has a suggestion that might steer me away from more risky borrowing options, I would definitely appreciate.

Have you no credit cards you can use to tide you over?

Even a reasonable paying job can usually get you a credit card or two with a decent limit, let alone your film star wages

I suspect that a swiss bank with an office in the city of London could resolve this one for you - if the new role in Switzerland is really paying a high enough amount. Try (for example) UBS and ask whether they can take you on as a private client.

    Or possibly, Citibank.

    20,000 Swiss francs a month?
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

Less than 20,000 but payment terms far from ideal, job just started, divorce in the mix, the whole move has costs, etc... hence the issue with short-term cash position.

I have about 10,000 in available credit on my cards, but I need cash in the next 3 weeks. I can pay it back in two months but I am finding it very difficult.

Please list provider names of your credit cards, what your limits are and any debt owed on them.
