So we've recieved the mortgage offer from the lender, the solicitor has also recieved her copy, she said she is waiting on the contracts from the vendor before she conducts searches which should come this week. How long from now until we get the keys, roughly?

There is an awful lot more information needed before anyone here can give you a realistic guess at what period of time you're looking at.
Is the chain complete? What is the length of the chain?
How long do searches take? In some parts of the country they can take 3 months, in others 3 days.
Great news you've got your mortgage offer, but if your solicitor has not received a draft contract pack from the seller's solicitor then it sounds like you're much nearer the beginning of the process than the end.0 -

Maintain regular contact with the EA. They are the ones that should be keeping track of everything that's going on. Some matters are totally outside of your control.0 -
No chain, the vendor is moving back in with parents after a break up he's hoping it's as quick as possible.

There are a lot of moving parts involved in the purchase of a property, even when there is no chain, and the the speed will be determined by the slowest component. Right now it's impossible to know what the slowest component will be in your particular transaction.
You could be 4 weeks away from getting the keys, or possibly 8, or maybe 12, or it could be longer.
As Thrugelmir says, try to speak to the EA and your solicitor once a week to keep yourself informed of how things are going.0 -

We're at seven months so far, and that's with no chain!0

Typically, we get our cases from application to offer in about two weeks.
Then the legal work starts and our offer sits waiting in a file for months while the niceties are sorted out.I am a mortgage broker. Took me 5 weeks from application to getting keys, ftb and no chain.
Searches took 3 week but yeah it's kind of a "How long is a piece of string situation" could be a month could be six.0 -

That's good going! It's a relief when a valuation is booked within 2 weeks of application, let alone have the offer out.
Woolwich particularly slow at the moment it seems.0
