Any way of speeding up activation with BT?

The 10 working days fits with the timeframe I've been given by BT but why would OFCOM dictate the need for 10 working days? BT website says that if there's a current phone line then it could be done in a matter of hours? Thanks for your advice
It's to do with slamming. Which is basically where a gaining provider tries to take over a line without the permission of the person who's line it is.0 -

BT have advised it will take until 18th April to activate having signed up today.
May seem like a silly question, but is there any possible way of speeding this up? My Mrs has some assignments to do asap and I'm already in trouble for not setting this up yet.
Thanks in advance,
Dave
You could try introducing yourself to your neighbours and explained your situation and ask whether you could use their wifi. I have done it when bt disconnected my landline by mistake and my sky bb stopped working at the same time. They can either say yes or no. BT was very good had broadband connected in 3 days as a priority due to complaint at higher level. Most neighbours would not mind.0 -
If there's BT Wifi from any neighbouring routers you can connect to that with your BT online account details.0

Of course if your neighbour did happen to be with BT you would also see this SSID
BTWifi-with-FON
My aged parent is soon moving (current date unknown) into a block of retirement flats. They are currently with BT, so is it worth staying a few extra days at their old address to be able to access FON at their new one, given that there may be a few delays in setting up the new line?0 -

No, their email log in should allow them to connect while awaiting activation at the new place.0
