spending in kefalonia

Haven't been away for a few years so I've sort of "lost the knack" on these things. I have Halifax Clarity debit & credit cards & the same for Nationwide Flex.
Are these still the cheapest way of getting money in resort? Last time I was away (about 5 years ago) I was using the Clarity CC in ATMs & getting a v. good rate.
Has the situation changed especially regarding the Greek economy? I remember once being in Athens & you could get a better deal changing Sterling cash rather than using cards.
I'm going to Skala which is a fairy small resort on Kefalonia if that makes any difference.
Any advice please?
