Tablet space bar is acting as delete key in Facebook

I don't know what I have done, but I cannot enter any comments onto my Facebook account using my tablet, because the space bar just deletes everything i have entered when I press it .

This is only an issue when using Facebook from my android tablet. It all works fine everywhere else. Here for example and fb on my pc. But I do use my tablet on the move. Anyone got any idea what I might have done and how to fix it?

Are you using the swype keyboard or the standard stock one ??

I did say in my original post that it is an android tablet. It is described as a G keyboard in the settings.

Hmm, you could try uninstalling it from your applications list and then re-installing it.


Or simply leave it uninstalled and use the stock android one ??


Are you sure you are not "swiping" on the spacebar whilst pressing it, as this moves the cursor.
It could be that you are highlighting stuff and then typing a space over it by mistake ..

definitely not swyping it. Just using it the same way i do everywhere else and it works. I am using the tablet successfully to write this post for example. I Itype in a word and very lightly dab the space-bar and in Facebook it immediately deletes everything i have typed up to that point. It's driving me crazy. Do you think it is the G keyboard.? It came pre-instal!ed and has been no trouble till now. I have looked at the tablet's settings and there is no option to change keyboard to another one.

Its strange how it is only facebook this happens.


If it were me, i would first try uninstall-reinstall of the facebook app,
and then the same with the gboard app .


You could possibly try clearing data and cache of the facebook app from within the apps settings first.
That might get it

just to say it was working ok again this morning but had reverted back to the delete problem this evening. i have not knowingly changed anything and am wondering if it is an intermittent fb issue.

My tablet is doing exactly the same thing, which is how I found your query when looking for solutions. It's most odd, is intermittent and only started a few days ago; I'm suspicious it's perhaps a Face Book problem because it's the only place it happens.

I figured it out! This is a problem with FACEBOOK.

When you use your tablet, if you go to the desktop site, you will have issues.
If you go to m.facebook.com, which is the mobile site, it will work.
