Moving in with parents before buying their house

Good evening,

We have recently accepted an offer on our house and are considering purchasing my parents house. However they do not want to move out until the new year as are looking buy a new build which isn't built yet. One choice of course is for us to rent in the meantime or for them to move out and rent.

However another option they have mentioned is that we put some of our stuff into storage and move in with them for a few months until they are ready to move out.

Aside from the emotional/physical aspects of living with parents are there any tax/legal implications? To be clear, we would not purchase their property until they move out, we would basically lodge with them until we buy and they move out. We would be paying some board money also.

Thanks in advance.

no tax implications . Another possible option maybe to tell your buyers you dont want to move until new year .
