Dad's broadband deal, any help please?

Hi all,
My elderly dad struggles with anything technical so has asked me to help...but I'm struggling to find a deal for broadband for him that doesn't have to have line rental with the same provider, any advice or help please would be much appreciated.
My parents have their landline with post office and want to keep that as it is (mum pays landline, dad pays broadband, and they won't change that). Dad's currently with Sky for broadband after they bought out Orange years ago. He's had a letter from Sky saying the broadband is going up from £15 to £17 and he thinks it's too much for the slow speed he's getting.
I've read the MSE broadband deals page but I can't find any providers that will allow them to keep their landline with PO and have their standard size broadband with another provider. Is he stuck with Sky for this?

Why not take broadband with the Post Office?0

Plusnet offer BB by itself for £13.49 with line rental elsewhere or with a line £20. Makes more sense to get both together0

I don't know how many ISP's offer it, but you can certainly get Broadband without line rental (though you usually need a BT based line as far as I know?), the problem is, its usually dearer than getting them both from the one provider.
Plusnet - from £13.49
Zen £15.40 - 20GB bandwidth limit, or £21.40 - unlimited
If you want to stay with Post Office phone line, why not try their broadband? £20.99 offer, then £26.99 per month for both line rental and broadband, then they can just split the payment between them if they want? (*not sure how great Post Office broadband is).0 -

Thanks all, I have told them they'd be able to get better deals if they combine the payment, but they're very set on mum paying phone and dad paying broadband, and they don't have a joint account. She does all the talking and he does all the surfing!
I think they do have a BT line already, as the Post office landline deal mum pays for runs off a the BT line as far as I know.
I'll let dad know about the Plusnet broadband only deal and hopefully Sky will drop their price for him when he rings up to close his account, be much less hassle then. ta0 -
Could one not pay the other, who then pays the provider's bill for joint line and broadband ?0

Tell them to stop being daft .
This isn't being 'set in their ways'. It's being stupid.0 -
How about one of them takes the water bill and the other pays for ISP, they really are hurting themselves.
Going forward any promo deal is going to exclude existing customers, so they are denying themselves access to deals from two suppliers.
It is also a pain to migrate when you are with two suppliers.
My advice would be to move it to Post Office for now with a view to migrating to Sky when they next do a silly offer like the £65 per annum for both line rental and BB. They will need to be away from Sky for 12 months to take such a deal. Other vendors are not so strict, also when Sky has these deal on you can get great rates from other vendors.
If they split their energy bill in this way then they are losing money there too.
They could both pay 50/50 into a joint account used just for bills if the 50/50 thing is SO important to them. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
With Sky, it's sometimes worth ignoring the advertised offers and ringing them for a deal.0
