Thunderbird Duplicate Sent Messages

For some reason every time I send an email using Thunderbird 2 copies appear in my Sent folder.
Any idea why & how to stop it ??

    Tools -> Accounts settings -> select your account -> Copies and folders;
    Untick "Place a copy in"

    Restart TB and test;
    If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

    Double clicking the send button?

    Have you asked the recipient if they are receiving 2 copies?

    Are you using Gmail? Gmail tries to be clever and places a copy of all sent emails in your sent folder. Then TB places a copy in there too. Just disable it as mentioned in the other answers.
