Is it a full time course and "non advanced"?
  • I think it runs for the school year so regardless of when she turns 20, it will run on until 31 August 2017. I THINK.

CTC and Child benefit will stop when your daughter reaches 20 even if she hasn't finished her course. They stopped when my son reached 20.

There should be bursaries from the college/other sources of help that your daughter can apply for; https://www.gov.uk/further-education-courses/financial-help

CTC and CB will stop on the child's 20th birthday.

https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/financial-support/help-with-benefits/tax-credits-and-child-benefit this is useful, and it tells you if there's other benefits that you could claim for too. It does say that any child benefit/child tax credit stops once a child turns 20, but there's other sources of support available from the college. Carers allowance is still paid as there's no age limit, and it may help for you to look into Income Support; https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/financial-support/help-with-benefits/other-working-age-benefits

    I hope this helps.

    Hi candy,
I can give you a little info as a relative of mine was in same situation with her disabled daughter who also claimed pip and was 19.

You need to make a claim for ESA FOR YOUR DAUGHTER as she will become an adult the day she is 20 and is no longer eligible for child benefit or child tax credits. As you say she is 20 in jan 2018 u should ring ESA up about 6 weeks before her birthday maybe even a bit sooner just to get your forms filled out in plenty of time.
And Yes you will receive her benefits until her 20th Birthday.
