I'm sorry but being disabled at any age DOESNT make you a child :mad:0 -

she isn't being classed as a child because of a disability though.
anyone can claim child related benefits until the 'child' is 20 if they are in full time, non advanced education0 -
Whatever age you are you're somebody's child........0

Obviously I've not worded this well, my cousin is severely disabled. I meant no malice.
It's so common now they turn 20, then need to claim benefits themselves, my cousin is so disabled this is not a option, her parents have to. She can't go to school after summer, her mum is trying to change things for teenagers in her area, instead of being with old people, she'll be with others , she's blind, deaf and severely disabled, instead with elderly disabled.
Sorry if anybody is offended.0 -
The word CHILD at 20 seems to be an issue here! I never said she was a child i said she becomes an adult...maybe i should have said Daughter is not longer classed as a Dependant for child benefit and child Tax credit purposes.. she will become A non dependant when she is 20 and can claim ESA in her own right!0

For child benefit and tax credit purposes a child is re-classed as a young person when they turn 16 - link and link
But a child is always a child to their parent even when they leave home, get married etc
