Vodafone Secure Net
Just a heads up for those on Vodafone Red/Value bundles, you may get a text saying you have been opted into 'Secure Net'. I got one this morning.
This is some additional security product Vodafone have to block content/websites and 'harmful content'. This is from their website (http://support.vodafone.co.uk/Vodafone-products-and-services/Vodafone-Secure-Net-/957092282/What-is-Vodafone-Secure-Net.htm):
'It’s automatically added to Red and Red Value bundles bought from 16 February 2017 with a free 3-month trial, after which it costs £1 a month for each device it’s applied to.'
So, it looks like it is free for the first three months, but then you start getting charged. For me, this is pretty cynical on the part of Vodafone. By all means enhance security, but if it's not going to be free after a trial they opted you in to, you should not need to have to cancel yourself.

Avoid it like the plague. Stop them snooping on your web site visits with a VPN app too. All providers are now required to record and store all your web activity. Looks like Voda want to charge you extra and snoop into the bargain.0

Just done an upgrade and they wanted to add this free trial onto the deal. I told them no deactivate that right away.
I do not want to be sold extra insurance or anything thats not in the package i called about. I just want ## texts/minutes/data and possibly a new SIM. Everything else is a no.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Same happened to me.. Just started a new contract at £17/month and found this has been added automatically with no mention of it when I signed up. I don't resent the extra £1, it's the underhand way it's being added which annoys me.
With 19 million customers in the UK, if only 10% don't notice this it's nearly an extra £2million for Vodafone - nice one!0 -
Just discovered that Vodafone have done this to me to without my informed consent. I can't find anywhere where it states I agree to this additional paid for service, so THEY have opted me in to it. Very unimpressed.0

What makes you think they are using this to snoop? Do you trust other security software and if so what makes you think another company wouldn't be using their security it to snoop - we can't know for sure, it's just the age we live in where technology has the ability to see what we do easily enough without security software. Perhaps I'm over cynical about that.0

Check your bills people.... Just found out they have just sneakily added this onto the bills. I thought i had instructed them to deactivate it and a quick google found this thread where i posted about instructing them to deactivate it right away.
One phone call to complain tomorrow....Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Good luck with that - this is Vodafone you're talking about!0

Phoned and they said its a 3 month free trial and then its £1 a month, I said i told them when taking out the contract to remove it right away i dont want it.
They asked when that was and i said when we took the contract out (towards the end of March) So its more like 4 months free and then they start charging.
I repeated that i instructed them to remove the free trial and i will have a recording of the call. All our phones record all calls.
They went away to check and came back sheepishly and said they will remove it and credit the payments made so far and a couple of £ extra.
So all sorted? (i hope so).Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
