I recently bought a 61 plate Ford Fiesta second hand from a dealer. I was given 2 keys for the car, but neither of these are remote locking keys with the buttons for locking, unlocking and the boot. Both keys start the car. However I'm wanting a remote car key. I'm finding it extremely difficult to find any information as to how I can get one as I don't already have a fob that can be cloned. I know it's going to be very expensive but as I'm hoping to keep the car a while as it was my first car, I want to invest in one.

Does the car even have remote locking?
Which model Fiesta is it?0 -
You dont clone fobs. Takes less than 20 seconds to program a fob to the car. The handbook explains howto.
That is providing you have the remote system installed.
maybe worth getting it plugged in to see how many keys are coded to the car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You can program the remote keys yourself to operate the central locking. You don't need an existing remote key to do this. Last post on this page gives the method:

If they're the same system as the early - mod 2000's models then you can also program new transponders into the immobiliser but you need two different keys that already start the car to do that. By different that means two with different transponder codes - if you have two plain keys it's quite likely that one is a clone and that won't allow you to code the immobiliser.
But if you feel like getting technical you can also add and remove keys using an OBDII interface 9under a tenner on ebay), yoru laptop, and a copy of forscan (free software, google it). You have to ask for a (free) premium licence in order to access the key coding features and the licence only lasts a month or so iirc. that's to try and prevent people using it commercially (or for illegal stuff).
Any used key off ebay for that model should be suitable for the above, then you just need to get a blade cut to work the physical lock.0 -
The car is a 61 Plate Ford Fiesta Studio TDCI. I don't know how to find out if it has remote locking, but due to its age it would be odd for it to not have it. Many other posts claim Timpsons can only create new remote keys from other remote keys as spares but I don't have any to begin with. I'm confused as to what types of keys I need. The keys I have are just the keys that go in the door and start the car.0

That shows 2002-2008, my car is a 61 Plate as I have advised. Can anyone tell me how I can actually check? My boyfriend had an 04 Ford Fiesta which had remote locking, I'm not saying it's a standard feature, but it would be odd for a car that's only 5.5 years old to not have it0

Put the registration number or VIN in here under the Vehicle tab:
https://www.etis.ford.com/home.do
That will show you the original build spec.0 -
We have a 2012 Skoda Octavia as a pool car at work and it does not have remote locking, just standard central locking operated by a key.
Not all cars, even for sale today have remote central locking as standard or or optional extra.
The Studio is the cheapest of the cheap in the Fiesta lineup so it would not surprise me if remote locking is not even fitted.

I just checked 3 different Fiesta Studios, from an 09 up to a 15 reg, plates obtained from Auto Trader, on the etis site linked in Inner Zones post. They all show "Less Door Entry Remote Control Unit" and are therefore not capable of having remote entry.
The link to etis was defaulted to the US section, which doesn't allow reg no.searches, change this on preferences/UK and you will be able to check what equipment your Ford left the factory with.0 -
The Studio my father has (62) does not have remote locking OP, it's why I asked the question about he model.0
