Painting over marble fireplace - is it possible?

Thanks to the replies telling me about the heat resistant spray, this sounds perfect. Did you have to prime the surface with anything before spraying and how many coats did you need ?

I didn't prime it.
Although it covered very well in terms of colour, you could faintly see the texture of the marble in the paint. Probably another coat would have got rid of that, but I quite liked the effect.
VERY IMPORTANT:
I made sure i masked the carpet, walls and other areas with tape and newspaper! Spray paint indoors will go a long way!0 -
