In May 2007 I spent £517 at least - I had to check my bank account to try and reconstruct the amount. 4/5 adults in a busy house, no pets.
In October I spent £389.57. This included feeding 5 extra people twice and having to brastically change the menu due to my RA flare up (only managed to handle a knife today for the first time in 3 weeks).
I have a good store still in the cupboard and freezer, but the fridge is looking a bit skimpy though we can easily manage till Friday.

    The really good bit?
well, I still have not had to think very hard about menus or shopping lists- in other words I am STILL finding things I can cut back on painlessly.
    I love this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Well, I shall post my final totals here as I don't intend a visit to Mr T's or anywhere else this evening!!!!!

Final bill was an eyewatering £532.91, or approx £120 per week for a 4 1/2 week month.
I shall attempt to shave off £10 per week for November & will aim for £475 for the month 1st to 30th, heres hoping..........

Hello all - well done to all who hit their target. I am updating this thread before I amend my signature. It is not pretty.

I seemed to take the approach that as I had blown my budget I might as well miss it by a mile. I spent 491 pounds against a challenge of 320.

I think thats a fail. My newly diagnosed diabetes has completely thrown the meal plans this month and I just 'gave up' I suppose. I have to get my act together but could do with some inspiration as I am feeling very flat.

  • Hi everyone

Not been on here as much as I had planned. I'm pleased to report that I have come in under budget. I'm not sure by how much as I still have to update my spending diary. I think I'll go for £100 again this month, although I dont have as much in the freezer this month. I cant believe the difference a bit of planning makes!!!

Well done to all who made it within budget :T and to those who didnt - November is a new month ;)

I made it in budget this month; I did one online shop from Mr T and apart from that have only bought a few bits from the bakers; seems like it will work this way for me (only myself to feed though, so I know my situation is very much simpler than most)

See you all in November!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • I must say my challenge was unsuccessful. There was a BOGOF for cat food in Tesco and I bought twice as much food and it increased my spending for October. I hope I will be able to decrease November spending thanks to it.
We also had spontaneous lunch in a country pub for £25.

I think I went over slightly this month but only by a few pounds, need to sit down tonight and work it all out. Then onto this months challenge... :)
  • I came in slightly under this month (yay) despite not meal planning, not planning shopping, not doing anything in fact. The £10 off tesco online shopping helped a lot. Though I'd built in of leeway cos I knew it would be one of those months! Final total £186.25 out of a budget of £200 and I have a lot of food in stock too. Going to try to do better next month and go back to a budget of £160-£170.
  • Didn't do to badly I think this month and am under budget.
    Budget = £45
    Total spend = £43.98
    Left of budget = £1.02
Off to Novembers which started on the 1st.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Finally managed to updated and post this months challenge. Moved 3 weeks ago and still trying to catch up.

This month came in under budget, although it was helped by trying to eat the contents of the cupborads and freezer before moving. Trouble is now I'm trying to restock what we ate

Off to post for the November challenge.
Good everyone and see you there!
