Kitchen bins - Expensive!

I have the brabantia 12l. Does fine for me on my own on my small kitchen as it's only for the non recyclable stuff. Any bigger and it'd get smelly before it needed emptying. And it's comparatively dog resistant. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
For anyone who is recycling this bin has been great for us. Not huge, fine for a couple /small family.

I got so fed up of trying to keep a stainless steel bin looking nice that I just buy cheaper plastic ones now - they're easy to clean, you can take them apart, scrub them and bleach them and they're relatively hard-wearing. I spent a lot on steel bins but found that they all smeared, developed rusty spots, got dented easily, the pedal mechanisms just didn't last and they weren't that easy to clean. It hit me one day when I was polishing the bin (yes really) that it just seemed a bonkers thing to spend time doing. It's bog-standard plastic all the way for me now, and I tend to go for a smaller bin just so there's no temptation to leave it too long before emptying.0

Mmm....that's actually the reason I thought stainless steel would be nice, because I could polish it, and it'd be shiny and nicer looking than the plastic :rotfl:
That's interesting though. I didn't realise they would rust and the mechanisms break easily.0 -

I have this one - like the more expensive ones it has the removeable inside https://www.tesco.com/direct/30l-brushed-steel-kitchen-pedal-bin/204-3768.prd?skuId=204-3768&pageLevel=sku&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=PX%20-%20Shopping%20GSC%20-%20Tesco%20Brand%20-%20Kitchen&utm_term=1100611559404&utm_content=All%20Products&gclid=COG85OjMg9MCFRegGwod8ikL3g&gclsrc=ds . At £20 it was a really good buy0

My steel brabantia bin just gets wiped down with a damp cloth and looks fine - I have not got time to faff about with steel polish!0

The Homebase one doesn't look too bad, and the reviews are reasonable. I doubt it would last as long as a brabantia one but it wouldn't need to at that price.
Now I'm starting to wonder if 30L might be a bit big. It's only me, no children, and it's a very small kitchen. I already have a largish bin for the recycling but this one will be for the non- recyclable stuff.
If you recycle all you can, I'd go for a smaller bin if possible. We're a family of four plus a cat and our bin is 11L. I empty it once every three days or so. Anything bigger would be a waste of space.0 -
i use to use aplastic carrier hooked on the cupboard and throw it away at night and a small empty persil box for cans etc.
or you can buy a holder.
