Old Style Daily thread. Saturday 1 April 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all.
Today marks the one year passing of my Mum. Thinking of you Mum. Glad we had the last 2 years of her life together to put things right.
Up before the birds again this morning. I woke at 2, hound woke at 3. Hubby woke at 4 with pain in his shoulder. By the time he'd rubbed his medication into the painful area and taken some painkillers I think we had both given up on sleep so there we were at half past 4 cutting his hair....nothing complex, just the usual tennis ball look.. It's getting warmer on the building site so he's gone the whole hog and shaved his 'captain Birdseye' beard and moustache off. He looks so much the better for it.
Busy morning for us. He has to pick his new to him car up at 8.30. Shopping, and this afternoon he's got a date with a jigsaw and old fence panels. They need to go to the tip. He's got a number of projects that he's started that I'm hoping he'll have time to complete. That's if he (and me) don't collapse in a heap first.
Onwards and forwards

Good morning Judi and everyone who will be here later. I've been up for a couple hours, I woke up feeling cold and just couldn't warm up, I'm wrapped in a black velvet dressing gown now.
Judi, thinking of you today, a sad day for you.
No special plans today. I managed to get some washing nearly dry outside yesterday but today's forecast is a bit dire so I will deal with what is airing and then think about the next eleventy billion loads.
I've done what housework I planned to do, other than changing bedlinen so I am going to have a day of doing what I feel like.
I made a chicken and chickpea curry last night with spicy rice, naan and mango chutney. None left. I have no idea what those two are having for their large and elaborately meaty meal today but I am having a piece of fish.
I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone
Pinch punch first day of the month and no returns :rotfl::rotfl:.
Wow, I can't believe it is April already, this year is flying by. April is my favourite month not least because it's my birthday on the 11th. I wonder if there will be the usual April Fool's Day tricks, I like scanning the news to see if I can spot any.
I have a peaceful day planned I hope. Max is going to be having a b..a..t..h.. as he is a stinky dog then my hubby and maybe DD14 will take him for a lovely walk down the Tarka Trail. Hopefully he won't find anything gross to roll in (Max, not my hubby:D) and I will wash his bedding while he is out.
I had a little breakdown yesterday once the girls were in school so my lovely CMHT lady came and let me unload a lot of my grief. I felt a lot better afterwards and feel much more able to cope today.
Hubby is in charge of the kitchen today so I will not be worrying what to cook for the rabble. I will definitely be catching up on some sleep at some point today, and I am going to watch the Fantastic Beasts film tonight.
Judi, I will be thinking of you today. I can't believe it's been a year since you lost your mum. I hope you have some happy memories to think about today x
Well that's all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Judi - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
I've noticed TravellingAbuela hasn't posted for a day or 2, anyone heard from her? TA - If you're reading and not up to posting, hope you're all ok, we're here if you need us, or pm if you need to x
Now light, dry underfoot but cloudy.
DH up and gone to work, I'm working too, both boys still in their pits, but DS2 asked for a lift as far as my work this morning so he can walk the rest of the way to the gym. I'll take them both a cuppa in a mo. Washing to peg on line, not sure what the forecast is though.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk, I had salmon fishcakes, jacket potato and veg, tonight I'm not sure what we'll be eating, it depends on what we do this afternoon. I got quite a good bargain for a piece of pork yesterday, so butcher cut into 2 large joints for me, one is in the fridge (that may become tonight's dinner) other is wrapped and in the freezer. If it does become tonight's dinner I'll just do roast pots, veg and gravy with it.
I was more productive yesterday - I did the food shopping, got the ironing done, did more washing so the basket "was" empty for a while, stripped and remade our bed, washed some of the bed linen, the rest is ready to go in, did some admin jobs/made some phone calls and made a victoria sponge cake, that just needs some jam and buttercream putting in it.
Keep safe and well x

dumpling That must've been upsetting but it's great that your daughter felt comfortable enough with the therapist that she could open up like that. So pleased for you both xx
Thinking of you Judi I hope you're OK x
Two friends from Cornwall are arriving today to watch Glos v Cardiff at Kingsholm with mr tru tonight. They're staying here tonight and driving back home tomorrow. I hate people staying but the match ends at about 10.30pm and I can't expect them drive back to Looe at that time. I really like them and get on well with them but most of the talk will be chillies, beer and rugby so I'll decamp to another room when that startsI'm a bit worried about having to sleep in a bed while they have the sofas, I still can't lie down without shoulder pain :undecided
Mr tru is feeling guilty, I think – he's sorted the patio and cleaned the bathroom, even the annoying, hard-to-get-to bits at the edge of the shower screen.
I don't want to get stuck into anything today so I'm just going to flit. The only thing I will definitely make time for is planning my days for next week, I can't wait to have plans that I can stick to and will see a result at the end of each day

Good Morning chums and another new month ahead Busy day today as I am baking stuff this morning for tomorrows family 'do'.looking forward to seeing my DGS Danny and his wife Hayley and hearing about their new home in NYC. He is only here until midweek next week then he flies off to Toronto for a few days then back to the U.S. Luckily he loves his job even though it means lots of travelling and having his missus with him makes all the difference.
Looking a bit cloudy outside but I can see the horizon getting brighter so fingers crossed for another nice day.
<<hugs >> to those who need one and have a peaceful day Jdi with good memories honey
Take care all

Morning everyone, it was very sunny when I first got up but clouding over now.
Thinking of you today Judi.
Dogs have been fed and walked, bird feeders have been filed up.
Not loads planned for today, DSS's are coming over to watch a footie match with OH so am planning a big dish of chicken enchiladas with salad and bread etc, easy to do and fills them up before they then go off and play football.
Popped over to see DM's best friend yesterday, the church had had a lent lunch in her memory with all proceeds going to the hospice, lovely gesture.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning All
Apart from a loo break I slept from 9pm to 7.30 this morning, must have needed it.
Bedding in the WM, don't think it will be going outside today, looks a bit grey out there although the forecast isn't too bad.
Need to get some supplies in today, my 80 year old Aunt is coming to stay tomorrow until Wednesday - she will talk for britain the whole time she's here, just need to find things for us to do. I'll take her over to Leith to see the Royal Yacht but not sure what else yet.
Thinking of you today judi.
Hope you're recovering Nanny.
Have a good Weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
Judi - keep those happy memories close.
Dumpling - well done on getting through a tough day.
It's still very grey outside though mild. I'm planning to go up to Oban this morning to have a wander round a DIY shed. My garden chairs are shot and I want some compost for my potatoes.
Whatever the weather I hope everyone has a happy Saturday. :j0 -
Lainey - that's a lovely thing to do.0
