One of the many problems of buying a house in rural village.
I have lived in a rural village for 35 years & would move into a town tomorrow !!
No mains gas, slow or very slow internet access, no mobile phone signal, no buses etc etc etc.........

Oil-fired heating = the ability to easily "switch" suppliers every few months, with almost zero hassle.
Rural village = clean air, no noise, no pollution ( well, unless you count natural farmyard smells LOL ), kids can play outside with almost zero worries about traffic, they can access woodlands, streams, hillsides within a few minutes' walk, climb trees, build dens, do all the stuff we used to do many years ago, you know your neighbours, everyone looks out for each other .........

Sure, there are pros and cons to rural life, and it doesn't suit everyone. Personally I'd never ( through choice ) go back to living in a big town or city.

Log burners can be very cheap to run if the wood is free, but nowhere as cheap as you might think if it isn't. You need space to store it, cut it and condition it so dont believe that it's a cheap way of heating your home.

To add to this - Do not underestimate wood consumption if this is your only source of heat. Keeping a house warm over the winter months will use a lot of wood.

If possible, I'd go for a stove that can burn coal as well as wood. Burn coal for heat and use the wood for the flames.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.
