My Taskbar Regularly Sticks! Help!

My taskbar has been regularly "sticking" recently and is unusable until I do Ctrl/Alt/Del. I have to do it lots of times each day.
The only problem I've recently installed is utorrent. I've tried scanning with all my anti-spyware programs, and AVG antivirus, but nothing rogue is found.
Is it just a symptom of an older PC (this is about 2 years old, and used a lot!), or is it the sign of something about to crash?

Try 164. Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
If no joy, explain a bit more what you mean by "sticking". What happens or doesn't happen when you click it?
A 2 year old PC is nothing. You might see other errors if it was a hard drive or memory problem.0 -
Thank you. I'll see how I get on, just installed the program.
Oddly I noticed that even when I ticked "Lock The Taskbar" the taskbar still worked!
Now I've installed that, it seems to be behaving.
Re my 2 years=ancient comment. I don't have much faith in PCs as my last one fell to bits, after being rebuilt like the Bionic Man

Er I expected "Locking The Taskbar" to lock it, of course. And it wasn't, it was still working.
Not quite sure why you've posted that comment!0 -
Argh! It's still doing it. I'm gonna try a System Restore..0

Still doing what? Locking the taskbar prevents it being moved to a new location on the desktop.
Is it "Auto-hide the taskbar" that you are having problems with? - Sticking? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
The taskbar isn't locked. I tried ticking the "Lock The Taskbar" option to see what would happen, and it was still usable.
Unfortunately the System Restore hasn't sorted the problem, and the taskbar is unresponsive until I do Ctrl-Alt-Delete. It's done it a few times in the last 15 minutes or so

What do you mean "it was still usable". I don't think that you understand what locking the task bar does! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Maybe I haven't explained it that well..I know what "Lock The Taskbar" does!
I'm trying to say that the PC is acting weird, it's not "locking" the taskbar when I tick that option.. and it locks of its own accord intermittently!0 -
You didn't answer the question What do you mean "it was still usable"? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
