I followed the instructions for dual booting my Vista ( ) PC with Windows XP, and succeeded in creating the drive, loading softward, Dual Boot Menu however, XP seems to be in isolation, no recognising Lan connection or wireless. Not sure all other components recognised either.
Can anyone help>

It will tell you all you need to know about your system.

"no recognising Lan connection or wireless. Not sure all other components recognised either" if the hardware is not recognised you need drivers will not work with out them.you will have to find the driver for xp ("XP seems to be in isolation")
"errr! used an old laptop XP and I dont imagine the drivers and utilities for the new vista one will have the xp ones on too??" it dos not have xp drivers
so basicly you need to find the drivers for xp to us the hardware.
the dell wabsite should give you drivers for both OS and there should be a service number, serial number, service tag or something like that on the dell to get drivers http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/product_support/en/product_support_central?~ck=ln&c=us&l=en&lnki=0&s=genthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0

            hmm

ok so ive already got 2 partitions on my system
 c drive : 220gb
 d drive (recovery): 9.9gb
 what now 0 0

            Hi Daku
 I followed these instructions
 http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp
I already had the two partitions so just created a third "F" ("E" is the CD/DVD)
as I had put quite a lot of photos on it only gave me a 10gb F but it was enough and I can link to the other drives (eventually I hope!)
You will need a copy of XP, I was lucky enough to have the XP disc from my old laptop (now defunct).
Thanks Banger/Tomsolomon - currently downloading the drivers for XP from the Dell site as a starter for 10.
 I may be back.
