So my DW bought three items, two tops, one £24.99 and the other £19.99 which rang up as £14.99 at the till, both with mix and match BOGOF plus a tee shirt for £5.99.
We get a discount, not sure how much, as we are members of the camping and caravan club.
The bill came to £26.33 and no matter how I try I cannot work it out with the BOGOF which the staff insist is working!

I think we should have paid less but what do you think?

£31 total with a 15% camping club discount would get you £26.33 give or take.
I googled, your discount is indeed 15%. Looks spot on to me. How do you work it out to a lower amount?0 -

What do you think you should have paid?
I'm guessing £20.34 based on the annotations on the receipt.
The receipt looks weird, I dont understand what 'rewards savings' are as overall it seems largely irrelevant. That is what the OP has used to add up their totals.
However, the total works out fine for their two purchases, one free item, and a 15% discount on it, so whatever system the till is using, it works.0 -
The 14.99 BOGOF was reduced by 15% - hence the 12,75 promotional saving.
So the bill is:
24.99 + 5.99 with 15% discount0 -
You bought 2 tee-shirts and had BOGOF so pay only for the more expensive = £24.99 and then bought another tee for £5.99.
So, your bill is £24.99 + £ 5.99 = £30.98
Then you get 15% discount...15% of £30.98 =£4.65
£30.98 - £4.65 = £26.330 -
Well I now have my calculator and see that the final sum makes sense.BUT how do the amounts on the receipt work out?0

So the bill is:

The fact that the £19.99 top rang through at £14.99 is irrelevant as that cheaper item would be free.
So you paid £24.99 for the most expensive top, £0.00 for the 2nd item in the BOGOF deal and £5.99 for the 3rd top.
Total to pay (before discount) is £30.98.
A 15% discount taken off that total is £4.65 (rounded up from £4.647).
£30.98 - £4.65 = £26.33.
That's exactly what you were charged so the staff are right.
What do you think you should have paid and how did you work it out?0 -

It looks like a combination of the camping discount and the bogof being shown as reward savings.
I don't know how they work exactly; but paying any less would be double dipping in the discounts.0 -
I had a Boots receipt that I couldn't work out either.
However, I knew that I'd bought a 'buy 1 get 1 half price' offer with both priced at £6.00
I'd also bought 9 items from the 'reduced' shelf priced at 50p each.
So I knew before I got to the till that I was expecting to pay £13.50.
As it turned out, one of the reduced items had some sort of offer that seemed to be 'buy 2 get 3rd half price' so the total was £13.25.
Even though I couldn't understand the receipt they gave me, I'd been charged less than I expected. So - no problem.
If I'd bought the stuff your wife bought, I'd have said to myself:
£25 for the expensive top
£0 for the 2nd top
£6 for the 3rd top
Bill will be £31.
Take off slightly more than £4.50 for the 15% discount
So as long as they don't charge me any more than £26.40, I'll be happy.0 -
Thanks all, Yes using a calculator I see the final amount is correct. BUT how do you work out the other sums on the receipt?
People on here say the 15% discount is £4.65 but the receipt shows it as £6.89, I feel these things are done to mislead, confuse us customers who do not have a calculator with us when shopping!0
