Your case is the same as hundred's being played out across the country, where a house move has resulted in a CCJ and a trashing of credit worthiness at the hand of private parking companies. If you haven't already read these, here are some links for you.

A prudent person would set up postal redirection for at least a year (£62.99) to pick up not only parking charges & speeding tickets but Xmas cards from friends & relatives & all the other people who you forget to update with your new address (or they forget to update).
Obviously we aren't all as prudent as you Nige!
It's interesting that people come on here and pass comment (not helping) without any idea of what someone might have been going through at the time.0 -

I understand why you may not like Nigel's comment. However, you must remember that hundreds of people read these threads and there may be others reading who read your predicament and then Nigel's comment may set a reminder to them on how to avoid the problem you face.
Nigel isn't a smart Alec/troll on this forum and has been most helpful in the past and his comment will be of help to some others.0 -

Just this morning I got a letter from the Royal Mail reminding me that the redirection from my previous house expires in a month. I still get the odd letter forwarded on so I shall renew for another year & regard it as £62.99 well spent.0 -
I agree with guys dad and the above "comments" , especially because this isnt just about the OP and their "predicament" but as its a public forum where people are supposed to "save money" they also learn from mistakes made by others and so try to avoid them themselves
people will read this thread and think "oh , I didnt realise that nor did I know the current charge for the redirection service, so good to know and hopefully avoid these issues"
my own comments tend to be stark and blunt and to the point , especially as this is serious and about money and court claims and judgments
the personal problems surrounding the people who post are rarely of concern in the popla or court process, especially mitigation, so replies will focus on the technical aspects surrounding what has been posted and as this isnt the samaritans then the personal issues are rarely dealt with
people need to learn to toughen up , because they will need a stiffer backbone in order to go to a court and face a judge , who may be quite stern and forthright with their views too
its also a valid question which I also commented on, for the same reasons, (not to be a "smart alec" but to point out something that could have avoided all this mess and extra effort)
when I read the initial post several thoughts came to mind , all needed setting out in my reply and were done so, it would be very poor if I had not commented on the various topics that I brought up , because they were all valid points and maybe not thought of or known about by the OP
perhaps they will add some extra process to be followed into the MCOL system, but it hasnt happened yet so we have to go with the hand that was dealt0 -

I would expect most cases to be agreed to be set aside as long as you can show reasonable grounds to defend the claim - be aware of ParkingEye v Beavis! Plus good reason for not getting the post (your explanation seems reasonable - the defence will be harder).
Here is one example of a major success (but it was against CEL who are much shakier with evidence and liability!):

and this one, where the OP got his set aside fee of £255 refunded by order of the court, by BW Legal:

And this information is useful just to include in your court bundle in case the Judge is minded to think the parking firm are the 'innocent party'(!) parking firms and ParkingEye recently being named and shamed by Parliament:
