Virgin Broadband only £17

I did this for a friend last night

He was paying £45 pm for lowest TV package, landline phone and unlimited broadband (50mb fibre)

He didn't want the TV anymore and didn't need the phone.

I went through to disconnections as the best customer services offered him was £32.50 for the same 50mb broadband only.

Best disconnections offered was £30.50 for that so only a further £2 off.

After a little digging with the retention's girl who was very nice, it turns out there is a broadband only package (I don't think it's available generally)

20mb connection speed for £17 pm with a 30gb usage limit.
if you go over the 30gb she confirmed just a one off charge per month of £7.50 then back to £17 the next month when your 30gb starts again.

So £17 pm or worst case scenario £24.50
Which isn't bad , saves getting a phone line in and ADSL which is slower in most cases and would cost about £27 for the first year at least when you include installing the line.

30GB is absolutely nothing especially if you are streaming, I guess it'll be fine for general browsing then I'd just get unlimited ADSL 17mb from Sky/BT or whatever is on offer. Virgin only charge about £22 for 50mb unlimited, I got it for £10/mo since they included line rental free for a year.

In fact companies still selling GB packages are a joke.

Vodafone do unlimited fibre for £26 or £23 if your a customer. Up t £80 cashback through topcashback and only £1 for connection at moment

Thanks for the post. Interesting that you can still get this as they stopped advertising it.

I'm on the 50Gb one for a similar price. Suits my needs well, and as you say, if you go over the limit its no big deal.

That £22 for 50mb unlimited was definitely not offered.
Do you have a link to it?
I can only see one for £23.58 (the one on this site) but its only for new customers:(
he was trying to avoid he hassle of needing a BT line put in but the vodafone one looks worth it

I left Virgin ages ago. Now paying £13.50 for unlimited fibre broadband. Yes, there is line rental too, but my provider gives a cash back card that more than covers that, from my weekly shopping bill.
Certainly worth mentioning the deal that you got for those not needing a phone line though. Thank you
