But we don't know whether any of those things are relevant. Some suggestions are a tad ambitious, imo.
Yes, it's possible to do most things IF you have a full day spare. But no-one has factored in the airport arrival and baggage reclaim, clearing security, picking up your rental car .
For example, OP might be connecting through LAX returning from Hawaii, in which case security and baggage reclaim wouldn't be a factor. They could de-plane, stroll out of the terminal and hop in a cab.Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
I'd walk out of the airport, turn left at Pacific coast highway, walk 15 minutes, grab yourself an in-n-out burger, sit on the grass opposite and watch all the planes coming in.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

I did the same itinerary a couple of months ago following a night flight. I had a long layover of about nine hours before my next night flight back to LHR. I was so tired that I was content to just stay in the much improved terminal and rest.0 -
If that is Grifiths Park, be aware that the drive up the winding hill (with little opportunity to turn round) can snake along for a frustrating amount of time (we were there in Feb last year. It will be worse now due to the popularity of the film La La Land which uses the park and the observatory as a location).
Driving should be limited as much as possible.
The walk from the southern entrance of the park up to the observatory is really nice, and some great views, and much faster than driving ( park or get dropped off on Fern Dell drive near the Trails Cafe) we did it in 25 mins with a stop for some photos, you can walk from Hollywood boulevard Metro in 45 mins if you're so inclined (I would get a Uber from a metro to the park entrance and walk from there to save your feet!)
Uber and public transport will sort out the rest, but even with a rental car, being smart with parking/walking saves so much time.
I found that a lot of People (Americans/visitors) are willing to spend an hour+ to get 1 mile closer to their destination to try and find somewhere to park, we just parked close by and walked the rest of the way, saved us hours.0
