Aldo Refund

I bought some shoes on the 21/01 in the Aldo Manchester store, once I got home I decided I wanted to return the shoes. I was emailed a free postage label and told I should post them as Ilive a few hours away from the store. I posted the shoes on the 01/02. I was sent emails to say they had received the shoes with all labels still attached and that I should see the refund in my bank over the next week. After 2 weeks went by I phone Aldo and was transferred to the head office in Canada where they apologised for their bank problems and told me that they would send me a cheque the next day. Again weeks went by and I still had not received the cheque so I called back head office on the 08/03 where I was told they would cancel the cheque and resend another which I have still not received. I called back head office and spoke to the manager where I said I want proof you have posted the cheque and that I will be going to trading standards. The next day I still have not received an email of postage confirmation which they assured me they would email yesterday. 29/03 I phoned the Manchester store where the manager said he could not help me as head office were dealing with it. Please could you give advise on how I should handle this case?

Trading Standards will not help, they don't deal with individual complaints.
All you can do is send a letter before action stating you will issue a small claims action if they don't pay up. You can find templates for this via Google.0 -

If so, consider a chargeback. Reason - promised refund not materialised.
Maybe read MSE's Chargeback article first.0
