You don't need a Paypal account. You can pay with just your card. When you reach the checkout stage it usually defaults to card payment anyway with Paypal as another option.

There is enough protection through eBay itself. If you don't want or need a Paypal account, don't bother creating one, just pay by card.

Thanks for the advice. I am aware that if my bid is accepted I have seven days to pay the seller.

Some sellers state that if you don't pay within 3 days they will cancel the sale.
Anyway, the sooner you pay the sooner they will send the goods.
If you can't pay within a couple of days I would message the seller and explain why.

Seven days is far too long to pay. The unwritten given is max of Three days. In fact you will receive reminders to pay from the Seller. Who may in fact tell other sellers to block you for late payment.

There is a Ebay section on here. Go there and have a read, quite a few sellers and buyers.

Not sure where you get that idea from unless this seller states it on their listing. eBay allow sellers to raise non payment cases 48 hours after the sale. Many sellers have this set up to automatically happen. If it times out without you paying you get a 'strike.' If this happens twice in a year you'll find you won't be able to buy from a lot of sellers.

From the point of view of a seller you've bought their item, they want it paid for and shipped asap. If someone hasn't paid within a couple of days then often they never do, so sellers, unless you have contacted them, won't wait around.

You'll also find that a fair number of sellers block buyers who don't have a PayPal account though by no means all. Again it's all to do with certainty of being paid. Non payers create a lot of extra work and hassle so sellers want to minimise the risk of this.

It is a condition of listing that they have to accept Paypal, you can pay with debit card for paypal and you can join Paypal at the same time. Paypal is owned by eBay albeit that they have separated parts of their businesses in the last two years.

Paypal offers a 30 guarantee for most products and once you have used them for a while they do not take the money for 2 weeks giving you time to make sure product is what it is.

Sign for the item "unexamined" or open the item as soon as you get it, a lot of people are sending empty boxes, especially for laptops and phones.

Do not get caught up with bidding on auction, every bid is sent to your competitors to encourage them to bid. So join AuctionStealer which bids in last 3 to 30 seconds. 3 bids a week are free.
Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !
