Daughter got ID d putting petrol in car
Options
Never heard of this before my daughter put petrol in her car yesterday and the cashier told her that her mum would have to pay as you have to be over 18 to put petrol in.
My daughter replied that she had driven the car in and put the petrol in and the car belonged to her but they were adamant she had to prove her age.

I thought you had to be 16 to dispense fuel into a car...Dwy galon, un dyhead,

Ive never heard of an 18 age limit before, a bit silly because people can drive from the age of 17.0

Sounds idiotic to me.
If she had already put the fuel in what are they going to do if her mum doesn't pay, or if she was on her own?All your base are belong to us.0 -

Yes 16 to refuel and purchase fuel.If it was me I would show the cashier my full driving licence. If they refused to take payment, I would record them saying that on my phone and say fine if you don't want to take my money I'm leaving.
This, 100%. You have to be 16 to dispense fuel. To be fair, the cashier may have been given incorrect information from his/her manager when he/she started the job ... but still, if they didn't want to take payment from your daughter, and your daughter could prove that she tried to pay, I'd have left it at that and driven off. I'm sure she'd have got a phone call from the garage's manager within a day or two asking her to come back and pay for the fuel - which is fair enough, I'm not advocating taking fuel without having any intention to pay. But what would your daughter have done if you weren't there with her ?0 -
as others have said you have to be 16, and my son had the pump turned off when filling up his driving instructors car0
