I bank with Halifax. I've been [STRIKE]hounded[/STRIKE] called repeatedly by them over the past couple of months, finally I was able to take a call this Monday and I too was offered this "Personal Account Manager" service (or whatever they called it).

The "scam" alarm was ringing loud and clear so I didn't give out any information - but the lady on the phone (Scottish accent, said she was based in Edinburgh, no callcentre noise in the background) was polite and friendly - and knew my name and that I banked with Halifax - so I guess it's probably legit.

Even so, my feeling is that it is as above - they're looking at the money going through my account (business going well; just had to become VAT registered) and are thinking they'd like to make more money out of me. So I told them I wasn't interested at this time.

Interestingly I can find nothing on the Halifax website about this, nor any online messages from Halifax telling me they are offering the service... This thread is all I've found!

(If Halifax are seriously interested in [STRIKE]getting hold of more of my money[/STRIKE] serving me better, competitive interest rates would be a good start, as would not reducing the monthly reward on my current account. While I'm at it an online service where I can send an message to Halifax would be useful, as would being able to change my address without having to visit a branch! I do wonder why I am still with them...)

Are you putting business turnover through a personal account?
  • Yeah same but when I asked them to actually manage all my personal relationships they looked at me like I was mad. Poor service D minus

I got the same letter from Lloyds last year, twice in fact. Didn't bother as it sounded like a new sales technique.

Same here; I’ve had the letter from Lloyds and also it’s come up on my internet banking a few times. Lately, they’ve started ringing me; once when I was in the middle of a supermarket, so not very convenient and a couple of times when I’ve been doing something else, so I didn’t bother answering them.

If they want to waste their time and I’m not doing anything else, I don’t mind letting them go through all their spiel and I expect ultimately they’ll give up, once they realise that they’re not going to be getting a “piece of the action”. ;):p
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.
